After the Washington Post reported that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) spoke at a 2002 event hosted by a white nationalist group, RedState editor Erick Erickson knocked Scalise's supposed ignorance about the organization.
According to the Post's Robert Costa, Scalise appeared at an event for the European-American Unity and Rights Organization, a group founded by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, but didn't know at the time that the organization was a hate group.
Erickson was not willing to give Scalise the benefit of the doubt.
"How do you not know? How do you not investigate?" Erickson wrote on Monday. "By 2002, everybody knew Duke was still the man he had claimed not to be. EVERYBODY."
"How the hell does somebody show up at a David Duke organized event in 2002 and claim ignorance?" Erickson asked.
The conservative writer then suggested that Scalise lose the support of House Republican leaders over his decision to speak at the 2002 event.
I agree with you. They were not people of the same name; they were the real Bill Ayers, the real Jeremiah Wright, etc.
That doesn’t change the fact that neither Obama nor J. Wright were ever associated with a ‘Trinity Lutheran.’ They weren’t.
Ok, I thought you took issue with Wright being tied to this White House (post election).
Freepmail.
No problem with replacing Boehner and Scalise, but I wonder if Erik asked the same questions when Obama claimed ignorance about his pastor's "preachings".
Yes, he did.
