In the 1960s and ‘70s, it was fairly common for leftists to describe the U.S. as not just misguided or flawed, but sick. On Sunday, Daily Kos’s Mark Sumner trotted out that metaphor when he asserted that President Reagan “introduced [an] infection” to this country, one which caused Americans to believe that “to save our nation, we have to treat our government like a threat.”
Since the Reagan years, Sumner claimed, “conservatism has been more than just an argument about tax rates and regulat[ions]. It's become an open and honest war on the whole idea of governing. By opening a gap between ‘the people’ and ‘the republic,’ the intentional murder of the American government was turned into something that could be supported as ‘patriotism.’"

I always recall the Clinton quote: “This is a war between freedom and democracy...”
Leftists tell us believing we’re overtaxed is un-American.
That’s rich coming from the same clowns who constantly bash the House of Representatives who are the elected officials most closely tied to the people.
Not “Democratic,” but rather “Democrat” government is un-American.
Reagan was right. America is a Republic. Not a Democracy.
The greatest deceit perpetrated on all of mankind has been that the Devil has convinced so many he does not exist.
I submit those that protest free-thinking individuals’ belief that government must be contained to remain free are disciples of that which ‘does not exist.’
Liberals can’t manage to run government transparently and competently.
But they have the chutzpah to accuse conservatives of making good government impossible.
The past election discredited the idea activist government works.

If you give them enough control and power, they will eventually kneel you beside and ditch and blow your brains out. All because you do not ‘conform’.
America was never a pure democracy. Nor should it be. That’s the purpose of all the checks and balances.
In addition to the millions of members of the welfare state, millions of other people have a vested interest in making sure Americans don’t come to the realization that they have far too much government, and that it needs to be drastically scaled back.
These people work for the government.
It’s a two-headed hydra.
