Hello all. Sitting here at home and wondering if anyone else out there is spending this evening alone.
On this night of all nights when families gather and friends share gifts and time, some of us are, for various reasons, spending Christmas Eve solo.
Not necessarily a bad thing - alone doesn't always mean lonely. But, it does mean alone.
Check in if that includes any of you, my fellow Freepers.
I spent two Christmas’s in Sasebo accompanied by my wife even though I was a lowly PC3.
This was 69-71. So, hey, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I lost a nephew in 2013 (he was 25) and a niece in September this year (she was 30). It is hard all of the time, but the holidays are the worst.
I know exactly what you mean. Why did families have to move all over the place? Drat it! Loneliness stinks.
I wish you a good Christmas anyway. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Just hub and I...and 2 kitty’s and doggie...I have allowed my son (now 44) to have a real family Christmas for 30+ years)... vowed to never make him experience what I did as child of divorced parents and separated from grandparents by idiot mother...this year I may tell him the story.
Merry Christmas to you!
Merry Christmas!
Give your wife a hug from the FReepers who have also lost loved ones. This is my 3rd Christmas since my husband died. I will be spending this weekend at yet another funeral. My cousin’s son was murdered on Monday.
thank you!
Yes! That would be me! Listening to the song dedicated to Mr. Gringh...appropriate?!
thank you al baby!
thank you and Merry Christmas!
Alone watching last week’s episodes of General Hospital and Young and The Restless. Pups are sleeping, cats are on the bed, coffee brewing. Life is good.
I’m alone tonight. Getting over pnumonia and a collapsed lung, so I’m on an oxygenator. Can’t go out, which really makes me feel lonely. Normally I don’t feel lonely, but tonight the feeling is pretty acute.
I normally don’t mind being alone, but for the last two months I’ve been totally housebound, and my FRiends here helped keep me sane.
I lost my cat this year, to kitty cancer, but I’m hoping next year when I’m healthy I will be able to adopt a new one. At least that is what I asked Santa for.
Steve, what makes you so tough to.be around?!
Wish I could send you some of my company, then you’d appreciate being alone.
I have been alone on Christmas and Christmas eve before though. Being alone and having 30 people in your house is quite a contrast. I’m big on family, 4 adult kids, 2 minor ones, 14 g/kids, 4 g/g kids and all their spouses is a bit much all at the same time.
I am by myself with the exception of my German shepherds.
Not by choice, I am under the weather and decided not to go to my cousin’s house.
Solo tonight, but not lonely. Learned many years ago that there are worse things than being alone on Christmas. Merry Ghristmas to all!!
Go to church, you won’t be alone.
God bless.
