We conservatives (and yes, I am one) look at the Great Society and ask “After 50 years of failure isn’t it time to reconsider?”. Well, I think we should ask the same question of policies we may have supported. The War on Drugs has failed. The Cuban Embargo failed. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider. The Left is entirely un-self-critical. Why should we be the same?

do you think that prisoners are reflective of any country’s health care system?

Well, in this evil capitalist country, prisoners, on the average, get better treatment than regular citizens can afford. Surely in the "workers paradise", with the "second best healthcare in the world" (supposedly according to WHO), their healthcare should at least equal that of regular citizens.

I haven't had time to look through all the previous posts, but has the following question been asked.

If relations are normalized, does that mean that Cubans fleeing their oppressive regime will no longer get safe haven, once they have stepped on US soil?

The Cuban community in South Florida has always been relatively conservative. Is this another effort by President Obama to punish his political opponents?

“If relations are normalized, does that mean that Cubans fleeing their oppressive regime will no longer get safe haven, once they have stepped on US soil?”

That remains an open question at present, especially since Obama’s executive actions are themselves apparently illegal and subject to his own discontinuance after any six month period even if they were legal.

Next up - the “War on Burglary.” It hasn’t solved anything since our founding.

the War on Drugs is the quintessential liberal program, utopian in its aims and serving only to provide salaries for those who implement it.

Next up - the “War on Burglary.” It hasn’t solved anything since our founding.

Almost certainly nonsense - I don't have figures for burglary, but I do know that according to the FBI two-thirds of murder cases are closed ... whereas the percentage of drug 'crimes' that are even detected is doubtless several orders of magnitude smaller. Not to mention that burglary and murder violate a person's rights, unlike drug making, selling, possessing, or using.

Obama is just doing his bit to strengthen the forces of communism internationally. That is all.

The Cuban regime suddenly lost its big cash flow from Venezuela when oil prices crashed. They needed an emergency bailout, and Obama jumped to it.

Castro can’t afford the embargo in this crisis, despite its political usefulness at home.

The Cuban communist party has been getting ready for years to put on a new face after the Castro’s die, transferring title of state industries to the families of the top Generals, who will be the new oligarch billionaires and Politburo members. They wanted things on the Party’s terms, so they had to get something done before Obama left office, but their cash crisis demanded it now.

The Cuban regime is the HQ for communist revolutionary movements throughout Latin America, and an essential pool of expertise for their client leftist governments and political parties throughout the region. Allowing the Cuban regime to fall would risk leftist gains elsewhere. Obama could not let that happen on his watch.

So when will Havana get an MLB franchise?

Probably about 2018. Take time to build a decent stadium.

To those who doubt the USA’s Comintern:

elections have consequences.

Ask yourself: Who did you vote for?

Then ask yourself if you have betrayed your own country.

Over 30 years, the value of Gullwings has fluctuated by as much as 50%(adjusted for inflation). Scary car for investors.
