In the first week of public comments on a federal proposal to encourage male circumcision in the U.S., most people are telling Uncle Sam to leave the foreskins alone.
His body, his choice and Foreskin is not a birth defect are among the hundreds of negative comments in the Federal Register against a proposed policy by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to advise that males of all ages be circumcised for health reasons.
The strongest objections were for infant circumcision, since it is a human rights violation for a male to permanently lose a piece of his body without his consent.
The CDC is wading into the controversy because a handful of studies from Africa have shown that the relative risk of a man acquiring HIV from an infected female partner was halved if the man was circumcised.
In addition, research has shown that circumcised men have reduced risks of getting genital herpes and human papillomavirus, which causes penile cancer.
Circumcision is not believed to affect the risks of HIV transmission via anal sex, which means it would have little impact on male infections in the U.S., which mostly occur in men who have sex with men.

Combined Snip Snip Nanny State PING! and DANG!
I was under the impression that nearly all men were circumcised already in the US
Proof the government has too much money, too many people, too much control, and should be shrunk.
Let the people decide.
I assume that most of the people who think that circumcision is a violation of human rights as the baby can’t give consent are probably totally fine with the baby being ripped apart then sucked out of the womb piece by piece from the womb.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think too many pro-lifers are protesting circumcision as well.
People should decide. But should it not really be the choice of the males when they reach 18?
God tells his people to do it,
so OF COURSE leftists will recommend against it.
My husband was against circumcision for our son. I thought it should be his decision. He’s against abortions.
From my cold dead hand.
From my cold dead hand.
It is a parent’s decision and I should have clarified: the vocal protesters are the ones to whom I was referring. Our oldest was a boy and it was a big decision to make. Our doc at the time mentioned that it does help with problems when men are older. So for us it came down to this; like father like son and God wouldn’t require something that is bad for you.
Oyez! Oyez!
The case of Queers v. Mohels, et. will now be heard.
Baliff, double popcorn for all observers.
Platelets in the blood (which stop bleeding) rise to a level of about 150% of “normal”, about 9 days after birth, and then start to decrease to the “normal” range. So if you are going to circumcise a child, do it on the 9th day.
There’s a fundamental difference between circumcision at birth and at age 18.
At birth, parents are 100% responsible for the child, including all aspects of his health. It may be that in their wisdom or culture, a circumcision is proper. At that age, pain is limited to mere seconds (I’ve seen it).
At age 18, the memorable pain and fear of a circumcision may dissuade a callow youth from his own best interests. Much less the risks mentioned in the article which unfortunately obtain too often before the age of majority.
So, I come down on the side of parental rights in the management of the health of their child. They exercise those rights in myriad ways, circumcision being only one.
My thoughts exactly.
These comments have to be coming from Muslim men.
.
>> “Obama is probably doing this because Muslims require circumcision.” <<
.
Islam prohibits circumcision.
found some data on this:
It seems like everything else these days its all about race.
quote ‘Circumcision rates over the last decade reached 91 percent in white men, 76 percent in black men and only 44 percent in Hispanic men.”
