On Monday, a group of students and activists took down the American flag flying at main entrance of the University of Hawaii at Hilo, instead raising the Hawaiian flag that was beneath it. The action was related to what they say is the continued illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom by the United States. The American flag that was taken down was folded and handed over to university administrators. The group then went over to do the same thing at the flag pole of Hawaii Community College in Hilo. While there, they encountered security.

Hey if Obama were from my island I’d be taking the American flag down too. They might as well fly the ISIS the way we’re heading.
I was in Hawaii in 1972. So no not lately, not ever again for that matter.
up to you
it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth , with the most perfect weather , and it IS America ...
Frank Marshal Davis was active in the Hawaii freedom movement, along with the Communist Longshoremen’s Union, that owned the paper that he worked for, the ILWU.
It’s kind of a tortuous connection but try to follow this. Davis was editor of a newspaper in Honolulu that was bought by the ILWU which was active in the Hawaiian independence movement. I was going to call it a freedom movement, the ILWU only supports communist revolutions. The ILWU has supported communist revolutions around the world, especially in Cuba and South America
In recent years, the ILWU has partnered with the Black a Bloc Anarchists in Oakland by shutting down ports on the west coast and the Gulf coast. The black Bloc Anarchists were among the earliest arrivals in Ferguson, they were behind the OWS violence in Oakland and were said to involved in the Arab Spring revolution in Egypt. Coincidentally, they dress much like ISIS, but they seem to have ha switched to masks in Ferguson.
This a great idea! We get rid of two permanent Democrat Senators and a couple of Democrat Congressman. Great deal for us and they can lay back and enjoy “screwing” US :-) Don’t let the door hit you in the ash Pineapple Boys.
Yeah! I love it. In the Philippines ( born there, American bred) my family celebrated Independence Day and Thanksgiving. Filipinos make great new citizens, we send our kids to school, get steady jobs, are quiet neighbors and would be too ashamed to make trouble in the US, the country we love.
I was raised in Hawaii. With my years perspective, and being marginally aware of the “ohana” movement, I say, maybe recklessly, if it weren’t for the military, I’d say give it back. I have always been uneasy with the way Hawaii was acquired, but mostly, it will regress, and people like my husband will finally be quiet about all the modernism, and he can get a shack on the beach or something, because the civil structure will fall down and there won’t be anymore money for maintenance and it will be like Cuba, frozen in time.
I’m good with that!
Go on and secede. Two Dem senators taken out of Congress. Sets the precedent for a state like Texas to follow suit.
Does that mean OB wasn’t born in the US. Then I’m all for it.
Seriously, let them vote.
Especially little Molokai in the 70’s. I think I saw more churches than stores along the road.
If they withdraw from the Union, that means Obama was no longer born in the US, and would have to leave office?
Works for me.
Parasites can’t live without a host.
“When in Hawaii I never met a true Hawaiian. Not once”
—
Guess you didn’t visit Molokai.
.
Wonder if they would kick Oprah and Tiger off Maui?
Most of the true Hawaiians are on the mainland....CA,AZ,UT. They can’t afford to live in Hawaii anymore.
“Guess you didnt visit Molokai.”
Sure, I did, but, still, no one I ever met could claim 100% Hawaiian blood. Lots of Spanish, Japanese, and Philippine blood in all that. People claimed 100% ancestry, but none could prove it.
That is the truth!
“People claimed 100% ancestry, but none could prove it.”
You asked for proof?
I just sort of took people at their word.
.
I’m sorry, but when you look at how we overthrew the Hawaiian Monarchy, it was not our finest moment. Pretty darn shameful, and even President Cleveland agreed with that assessment.
