Rudy Giuliani saved thousands of black Americans
American Thinker ^ | 11/25/2014 | Carol Brown

This past week-end on Meet the Press, former NYC Mayor Rudy Guiliani was insulted and smeared by fellow panelist and MSNBC host Michale  Eric Dyson. Dyson went so far as to accuse Guiliani of having a mentality akin to white supremacists. This is all the left has when confronted with the truth, which is exactly what Guiliani provided as he cited crime stats. But Dyson would have none of it. (I wrote about the exchange, here.)

Guiliani has continued to try to place facts between the ears of anyone out there who appears allergic to them when he was a recent guest on Fox & Friends.

… I probably saved more black lives as mayor of New York City than any mayor in the history of this city with the possible exception of Mike Bloomberg, who was there for 12 years. When I came into office thousands of blacks were being killed every year. By the time I left office it was down to about 200. I’d like to see if any of, if Dr. Dyson has ever saved as many lives in this community as I’ve saved. And I did by having to use police officers in black areas where there was an astounding amount of crime. If that crime were in white areas, police officers would be in white areas. If it were in Hispanic areas, it would be in Hispanic areas. I had no racial component to my determination of where to put police. It was based on the ComStat system which I established with Bill Braden. I had a statistically based system that actually the Justice Department investigated and found to be perfectly fair under then, then, Deputy Attorney General Holder….

Not only did he bring the kill rate down, he also got a lot of homeless blacks off the streets and off drugs and booze. I remember a few stories they would do a “before and after” show the guy in the street and now cleaned up working a job. And those two pieces of rat slime Tim Robbins, and Susan Sarandon - who by the way named her first male born child after killer Jack Henry Abbott - would organize protests against him seemingly every week. Liberals hate it when Republicans get results.

Absolutely right. I hope people pay attention to this and someday give Guiliani credit for saving the lives of so many African Americans.

I would take this article more seriously if they could spell the man’s name correctly.

Giuliani is full of sh*t.

Murder rates went down in almost every major city during Rudy’s tenure. Rudy loves to take credit for things.

He used to don a black leather jacket and meet the cops when there was a big bust, so he could get his photo on the news.

Really? That is insulting. NYC was the crime capital of the world and was a hopeless mess before Rudy took over. No one could ever have imagined a clean, safe NYC. After he left office NYC was the SAFEST city in the USA. Seems easy now, right?

From your comment, its obvious you did not live in NYC at that time. Before Giuliani NYC was considered un-governable. People had to deal with graffiti, boom boxes, aggressive panhandlers, muggings, blatant drug dealing, etc. When Giuliani took over the change was remarkable.

NYC was a horrendous mess, the former mayor was nothing less than a transformative figure.

If Rudy had been pro-life, he would have well been the 2008 nominee.

Guiliani saved lives because he was a realist... a liberal elite would have let the black slaughter continue because liberal elites are more concerned with how THEY look... than with anything else. Hats off to Guiliani - Hats off to the brave men and women of the Ferguson Grand Jury.

I have lived most of my life in NYC.

Stats don’t lie. When Rudy was mayor, crime stats were diving in most big cities.

The one good thing he did was his fix a broken windows policy.

He was an unpopular mayor until the WTC. Then he talked tough and people liked him, despite the fact that he put his security headquarters in the WTC against everyone’s advice.

NYC was never close to being the most dangerous American city. Detroit; Chicago and Houston immediately pop to mind.
