Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner on Friday called President Barack Obamas executive action on immigration a great start to get the dialogue going on immigration policy changes.
The comments came as Rauner addressed more than 900 advocates for the Latino community in Rosemont. Rauner told the crowd he supports comprehensive immigration reform, which he acknowledged will take more work. Immigration reform 'opens doors' NIU student and undocumented citizen, Laura Ramirez, faces daily challenges of living without citizenship.
The real way to do it is on a bipartisan basis, through Congress, through the legislature, with the president, with the states all working together to make sure the changes are permanent, theyre structurally in place for the long term, said Rauner, receiving applause.
Later, when asked by a reporter if he supported Obamas executive orders, Rauner said Its good that the president gets the discussion moving.

I had read about Rauner on the Second City Cop blog. The commenters there pointed out the reservations with this “Republican” candidate, but said he was likely the only kind of Republican who could get elected in illinois. But with Republicans like Rauner, who needs rats? Apparently he’s not exactly enemies with Rahm.
No, 99.999999% of the RINO’s did not vote for Obummer in either 2008 or 2012.
It was the republicans who abstained, thinking they would teach a lesson to GOP are the real cause. A fine lesson they taught the country! As Obummer likes to say “Elections have consequences”. And we are on the receiving end of those consequences.
So, are you a big Rauner fan or something?
Other than the “R” by his name, can you show me some difference he has with the average Democrat?
ALthough I lived in Illinois for 35 years, in Chicago and burbs, left the area in 1997. So I have no opinion on Rauner. All I can say is seeing how that state has turned left, it would be impossible to get a conservative get elected as governor in Illinois and California. These are large states and very expensive to mount a media campaign against liberal policies.
So in essence what I am saying is that expect only RINO’s having a chance in those states.
He’s a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual liberal, one who thinks Obama’s usurpations are a “good start.” It’s interesting that you have “no opinion” on that.
As to the other, go ahead and surrender, that’s your choice. But I ain’t joining you.
I do not know of many democrats who are pro-life or against gay marriage. So no big loss on those issues. On the other hand Rauner is likely to save Illinois from going bankrupt, which will cause huge job losses in the state. I am sure you are well aware, most large blue states are drowning financial in problems .
LOL ... as if.
We know from decades of bitter experience that if a politician will sell out the supreme right of little babies he will sell YOU and your rights out, every time, with the least little bit of political pressure.
But, even if you were right, that this Leftist Republican would somehow make the trains run on time like Mussolini, it wouldn’t matter anyhow. The trains would still be heading for hell.
If your hypothesis is correct, California should be falling into the ocean anytime now. Gov. Brown sure is pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage.
I do not have to like gov Rauner, but I can willing to tolerate him because the democrat alternative was much worse on every issue. Rauner will be more helpful to the republican nominee in 2016 than his democrat opponent would have been.
I simply can not live this life hating every one who does not agree with me on everything. Just choose the better alternative available, as Ronald Reagan used to advise.
By the way I would never send any campaign contributions to abortion on demand candidates. Rauner got no support from me.
Allow me to be blunt: If you call conservatives haters, and if you can stomach leftists like Rauner, and if you think leftists like Rauner are actually going to do some good just because of the letter by their name, you're a de facto liberal, whether you will admit it or not.
Chicago talk show WIND host former congressman Joe Walsh am 560 weekdays 5-8 pm often bumped by N-IL (Husky’s) college sports devoted his last segment to Rauner’s response who as a candidate paraded under the GOP banner shoved a stick in the eye of every conservative group supporting his election by his statements reinforcing this unconstitutional move.
Walsh had supported big money Rauner AFTER he won a very contentious and confused primary.
By his atatements Rauner leaves no other option to Illinois conservatives than to advise voters of his uniparty positions. And to create opposition in the state legislature which will defeat this fraud.
Sounds right to me.
conservatives need to stop help electing these frauds in the first place

Somebody post this on the IL state board....
LBJ was a big admirer of Kerner; named him to head a commission that blamed racial unrest on “whitey”.
I’m not surprised that Rauner agrees with Obama’s immigration plan. Rauner supports the law that allows illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses.
The conservatives in the state legislature could fit comfortably in a large van.
Is Rauner the first RINO to endorse Obama’s fiat?
Why are you shoving words in my mouth? I never said or implied all conservatives are haters. I am strictly speaking for myself. I despise the policies of the current president because he is destroying social values, economic strength and the military. But I do not hate him. I can’t wait until he goes back to Chicago.
Again to repeat my point of the subject of this thread, the new governor of Illinois, is preferable to the democrat alternative. I can say that without even the need to research both of them.
