ACT for America, is according to their website, the nations largest non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization devoted to promoting national security and defeating terrorism. ACT for America has 280,000 members organized in more than 890 chapters nationwide and 11 countries worldwide.
One of their chapters is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. As an informational service to the community, the local president, John Peach, organized an evening presentation on the menace of Sharia law and attempts by local governments across America to institute provisions for incorporating it.

Mr. Peach and his associate, Bill French applied for use of an auditorium at Farragut High School, part of the Knox County school district. The request was initially granted and the event was scheduled. That was until the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), was alerted.

Knox County Schools superintendent James P. McIntyre, Jr., was warned that ACT!s seminar might provoke violence and disrupt the school environment. Farragut Highs principal, Michael F. Reynolds also cemented McIntyres inclination to withdraw approval for the event, in speculating that it would convert the school into a public forum for harassment and bullying practices that contradict the open-minded, academic discussion we seek to teach and foster.
CAIR was so certain that this was the end of the matter, they crowed about it on their website:
We appreciate the prompt and appropriate response to concerns of Muslim parents and others that hosting this event in a public school would send an implicit message of endorsement for the bigoted views of the speakers, said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Its rather ironic that the districts decision itself is the epitome of contradicting open-minded academic discussion. ACT! In partnership with Freedom X, one of many legal groups defending free speech, filed a legal action in Federal Court in August and the school district settled out of court, a month and a half later.
Part of the terms was the agreement on the districts part to adopt a blanket policy that approval for use of school buildings and property will not be withheld based upon the content of the message or viewpoint of the applicant.
Bill Becker, president of Freedom X, commented that This is a victory for free speech. Sharia is incompatible with our constitutional and legal protections. That was the message Knox County school officials tried to censor. It is unfortunate we have to educate the educators about our freedoms, but we are thankful that Knox county attorneys recognized litigation would have been futile for the district.
Maybe to prove their point CAIR will riot and protest outside ....
The Father of all lies loves his little group that he founded called “CAIR”.
They’ll continue to chip away until the pressure is too much. It’s their MO.
The bottom line is that if the program happened, then CAIR would resort to violence. Isn’t that what the Koran instructs as the proper response to infidels’ actions such as putting on the Sharia program?
approval for use of school buildings and property will not be withheld based upon the content of the message or viewpoint of the applicant.
Oh. It sounded like they were going to cancel permission for use because they were afraid of violence from the Muslims.
That would be in line with standard Muslim practices.
Then the ACT organizers should assemble the men who will be participating, select a leader, and tell them to be prepared to repel any muzzie attempt to invade or assault or disrupt.
Pepper spray, Tasers, or other nonlethal means for neutralizing violent muzzies. Air horns to drown out disrupters. Designated video operators for preferring charges later. Warning signs at entrance doors.
Instruct the crowd to chant “USA! USA!” if disrupters begin shouting.
Knox County School Board used to pick Supers from within the local school system and it worked out great. Mildred Doyle and Earl Hoffmeister were two I remembered. Both worked their way up as teachers, principals, etc. and knew the schools, their needs, the teachers, students, and most important respected the communities. The mega school concept in East Tennessee deserves a huge F- and the same with Block Scheduling.
