President Obama on Saturday touted his pick for head of the Justice Department as a strong civil rights defender who shares the same fierce commitment to equal justice as departing Attorney General Eric Holder.
Obama said Loretta Lynch, a federal prosecutor with two decades of experience, would carry Holders strong legacy of civil rights given her own background.
"She has spent years in the trenches as a prosecutor aggressively fighting terrorism, financial fraud, cybercrime all while vigorously defending civil rights," Obama said in a rare weekend announcement at the White House. If confirmed by the Senate, Lynch would become the first African American woman to lead the Justice Department. She would succeed Holder, who was the first African American to hold the post and has become one of the departments longest-serving leaders.
Lynch would also be faced with the fallout of the deadly shooting of an unarmed black teen by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. The jury in the case will soon reach a decision, which is likely to stir more unrest.
Standing beside Holder and Lynch in the Roosevelt Room, Obama touted his nominees 30 years of experience in law and said "it's pretty hard to be more qualified for this job than Loretta.
He pointed out that Lynch was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, a city where a group of black students sat at a whites-only lunch counter and helped spark a movement that would change the course of this country.
Her grandfather had been sharecropper under the Jim Crow system and Obama said that if he was still alive, he would have been proud.
Lynchs experience is far-ranging: She has prosecuted members of the Mafia, terrorists who plotted to bomb the New York City subway, and elected officials including Rep. Michael G. Grimm (R-N.Y.) who recently won reelection to the House.
Obama said he was confident that Lynch would help drive White House priorities such as reforming the criminal justice system.
Loretta might be the lawyer in America who battles mobsters and drug lords and terrorists and still has the reputation for being a charming people person. Thats probably because Loretta doesn't look to make headlines, she looks to make a difference, he added.
Lynch said she was thrilled to receive the presidents nomination, which will now head to the Senate Judiciary Committee for review.
If I have the honor being confirmed by the Senate, I will wake up every morning with the protection of the American people my first thought, Lynch said.
I will work every day to safeguard our citizens, our liberties, our rights and this great nation, which has given so much to me and my family.
Obama AG Nominee Lynch: Voter ID Laws were Passed by Racist Southerners, Must be Stopped
More Obama lies?
Another black marxist. Quelle suprise.
Pubbies need to publish a list of qualified conservative black female candidates,
“Just letting the pubbies know the tag theyll be getting if they dare to oppose Lynchs nomination.”
Wow! Being called a racist by a pack of 50 IQ, purse-carrying, mascara-wearing simpletons must be terrifying for the wimpy GOPe leadership.
Lynch ‘em Lynch.
Obama: “She’ll continue Holder’s lead in worsening race relations and causing problems where there shouldn’t be”
It went the way of “judge us by the content of our character”.
Uh, Enforcing the Laws of the Land? That should be a big enough job.

Her mother was a school librarian and her father was a Baptist minister.[3][4] As a child, she spent hours with her father, watching court proceedings in the courthouse of Durham, North Carolina. Her early fascination with court proceedings was compounded by stories of her grandfather, also a pastor
Great...Loretta and the Lynch mob...in charge of “just us” in the USA...
You’d think with an upbringing like that she’d be more inclined to assess people by their character.
Check the article from the link I posted in post #41, she’s absolutely against voter ID.
Beware that the states have authorized the feds to protect only those rights enumerated in the Constitution by the states as evidenced by wording in the 13th and 14th Amendments and the four voting rights amendments.
All too often we hear about generic civil rights being violated, such as implied protection from alleged police brutality, such rights not necessarily based on constitutionally enumerated protections. Such so-called rights are being trumpeted by corrupt politicians and activist judges likely to win support for both RINOs and Democrats from low-information voters who have probably never been taught about the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.
If she is not corrupt, her first act as AG would be to arrest Eric Holder for Fast and Furious.
Loretta Lynch, a federal prosecutor with two decades of experience
If Obama was a woman he’d look like Lynch.
LOL! hilarious
She’s as good as in! Republicans will not dare take a stand when the race card is ready to be played.
