Loretta Lynch, the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, is expected to be President Barack Obama's pick for Attorney General, U.S. officials briefed on the matter told CNN.
An announcement is expected in the coming days, though timing is complicated by the president's plans to travel to Asia this weekend.
Lynch is a popular prosecutor who is in her second stint as US Attorney in New York's eastern district, appointed by President Obama in 2010 and also serving in the same post from 1999-2001 under President Bill Clinton.
White House principal deputy press secretary Eric Schultz told CNN in a statement "We don't have any personnel updates for you, and I'm certainly not going to speculate on any decisions before the President announces them."
U.S. Officials says the President's decision is not official until there is a formal announcement from the White House.
Lynch would be the second woman to serve as Attorney General and second African American to hold the post.
Lynch served on the trial team that prosecuted and won convictions against New York City police officers for violating the civil rights of Abner Louima, a Haitian immigrant who police sodomized.

Lynch. Kind of a harsh name for an African American, if you ask me.

If I were the Republicans, I’d say the nomination is DOA.
Just because.

Lynch would be the second woman to serve as Attorney General and second African American to hold the post. Eric Holder and Janet Reno.
She's going to have to be really really really corrupt. Those are some legendary names to live up to.

Lynch is indeed a horrible name for a prosecutor, especially a black prosecutor.
But perfect for an Obama appointee.

If I were the Republicans, Id say the nomination is DOA. Reid's nuclear option is still in effect. If Obama is fast enough, I'm guessing the Republicans will have no say in the matter.

I hope Mitch and Cochran have some stout young fellows to hold up their feeble geriatric carcasses as they droolingly stumble forward to confirm this Left Wing Lulu. Perhaps when they vote to confirm her, they might wear their Trayvon Hoodies?
O yeah, Baby! Let's make sure the Michael Brown Family is released from custody to join the cheering crowds of African-American Federal employees given time off for the occasion. Koom - bye-yah. Set my people free.

So I guess she will continue the DOJ’s favorite pastime. Looking for phony racism under every rock.
