Cancel the Midterms
New York Times ^ | November 3, 2014 | David Schanzer and Jay Sullivan

Posted on 11/03/2014 4:12:18 AM PST by Jim Noble

By Tuesday night about 90 million Americans will have cast ballots in an election that’s almost certain to create greater partisan divisions, increase gridlock and render governance of our complex nation even more difficult. Ninety million sounds like a lot, but that means that less than 40 percent of the electorate will bother to vote...

The main impact of the midterm election in the modern era has been to weaken the president, the only government official (other than the powerless vice president) elected by the entire nation. Since the end of World War II, the president’s party has on average lost 25 seats in the House and about 4 in the Senate as a result of the midterms...

If only we could stop all this voting

Not necessary when election Fraud is so easy, and you are the only player in the game.

Yeah, in a Parliamentary system, he'd have to be a sitting member of the legislature to run for Prime Minister, and pretty much every seat in Massachusetts would be a non-starter for him.

Chaffez wouldn't give up his seat for Romney, though, although that would be ideal.

My guess is he'd run for whatever part of Michigan he lived in when his dad was Governor. Would Senator Obama "stand down" after losing the election to Romney? I doubt Joe Biden would succeed him as "Leader of the Opposition" in an Romney administration. Blago would have still probably tried to sell his seat, though.

A member of the upper house as PM? That’s so out of style, Obama would have had to run from IL-1.

If Obama resigned Pelosi would be opposition leader until the next rat leadership election.

Biden would have become the leader of the opposition in the Senate.

“Chaffez wouldn’t give up his seat for Romney”

Someone would have been forced to if need be, that’s how it’s done, the evvvvvil Mormon church would have ordered Jason to step aside! In the last British Colubmia election the reigning Liberals (Which include most federal Conservatives and a lot of federal Liberals) won a surprise victory, holding on to power. But the NDP socialists beat the sitting Premier in her own marginal seat, some dude had to give up his safe seat for her, he was “fighting back tears” at the press conference.

LOLOLOL

After Obama’s election in 2008 he’d have probably had Ray Lahood elected as the “non-partisan” Speaker.

Cautious optimism today, gentlemen...

SOL, looks like you just may get a Republican governor... that’s a surprise...

In PA, we’ll see if Corbett can hold the line.

If the pubbie comes out ahead I expect a repeat of the 1994 Maryland gubernatorial race, highway robbery.

The first 3 things I would do as POTUS (in order):

1. Sign EO putting RR on all currency.
2. Suspend all civil rights and declare a state of emergency.
3. Start my depopulization program.

Can I be in your Cabinet? Secretary of HATE?

Reagan should at least be on the dime, and the 20 dollar bill (not the 50 as has been proposed, Grant should stay, Jackson should go, Jackson was nuts).

I was thinking “Director of Secret Police” for you actually.

My currency idea in non-negotiable: And “One Nation Under God” will be featured very prominently on all currencies as well. I apologize for not stressing that earlier. Every f****r that touches our currencies will see the true spirit of AMERICA .

“I was thinking “Director of Secret Police” for you actually.”

Swwwwwweeeeett, that’s even better. Probably won’t need Senate approval either.

Speaking of the Senate, if they aren’t complaint.

Senate approval? There is no Senate or House or furkata SCOTUS when I take over. You know “the look” I’m going for.

Great videos! I love the second one; it reminds me of me.

Another quirk is that, during midterm elections, the electorate has been whiter, wealthier, older and more educated than during presidential elections.

I'm not sure that's always the case. Ronald Reagan lost the Senate in 1986. Bill Clinton picked up seats in the Senate and the House in 1998.

I’m not sure what’s wrong with midterms blunting a President’s capacity to do business. If anyone typifies Presidential excess, it is Barack Obama.

Yes! I’d like so see some light saber action thrown in too though.

Can you imagine Jamal with a light saber?

You can have the Treasury.

Hale can have “Dept. Of The Interior”. It will be...repurposed.
