Ebola is a lot easier to catch than health officials have admitted and can be contracted by contact with a doorknob contaminated by a sneeze from an infected person an hour or more before, experts told The Post Tuesday.
If you are sniffling and sneezing, you produce microorganisms that can get on stuff in a room. If people touch them, they could be infected, said Dr. Meryl Nass, of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, DC.

Judge rejects Ebola quarantine for nurse

Why would they have to admit it? Everyone knows a sneeze transfers body fluid.
This is the same as when they issued statements that HIV could not be spread by kissing. They later changed their statement that you could only get HIV from kissing if saliva is exchanged.
Anyone know how you can kiss someone and not exchange saliva?
Back to reality!
I guess the “judge” believes the nurse’s CONSTITUTIONAL rights to ride her bike whereever take precedence of anyone else’s CONSTITUTIONAL right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We are dealing with a nation of people BLESSED by their total ignorance of the realities of the spreading of a fatal infectious disease.
How many Americans are fully aware that the expression, “GOD BLESS YOU” when someone sneezes did in reality come as a result of history’s worst plagues that was readily and quickly spread by people who “merely” sneezed.
It is said that “Ignorance is Bliss”. Too many of us lead “blissful” lives.

Profectus BioSciences Receives $9.5 Million Department of Defense Funding to Manufacture Trivalent VesiculoVax-Vectored Vaccine to Protect Against all Ebola and Marburg Viruses
BALTIMORE, Md., Oct. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Profectus BioSciences, Inc., a clinical-stage vaccine company developing novel vaccines for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, announced today that the Department of Defense (DoD) through the Medical Countermeasure Systems-Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program (MCS-JVAP), a subordinate command of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, Edgewood, MD, has contracted the manufacture and IND-enabling preclinical testing of the Profectus trivalent Ebola/Marburg vaccine.
In addition, the USACC has contracted for clinical evaluation of the VesiculoVax Zaire-Ebola virus vaccine to meet the current outbreak in West Africa.
......snip....
In July 2014, Profectus BioSciences and the GNL were awarded a 3 year $8.5M grant from the DOD/JVAP to support development of a lyophilized trivalent VesiculoVax-vectored vaccine to protect against all major strains of Ebola and Marburg viruses delivered as aerosols.
The lyophilized trivalent vaccine is being tested in both pre-exposure and post-exposure studies to confirm protection of non-human primates from aerosol exposure to Ebola and Marburg viruses.

So when will Obama ask for funds to pay for her future.
She's just another Fluke.
And why didn't CDC protest any form of quarantine when they quarantined Duncan.....and later...his relatives.
Funny you should mention Dr. Meryl Nass....

I have mixed feelings on this. I think quarantines are generally a good idea with diseases like this. But we should trust knowledgeable people with a basis in science instead of hysteria spread by the mainstream media. Also, just because 1 dumb@ass does something stupid is not a reason to act against everyone.
I gotta side with the nurse on this. The tests came back negative and she showed no signs. She didn’t fit the CDC criteria. She knew the precautions she took and was knowledgeable about the disease. The checker at the airport didn’t have a clue when they gave the initial test. It was proved to be a false test. That nurse really doesn’t wanna die either. And there was no law in place that allowed her detainment. That is my biggest sticking point. Just because Chris Christie says detain her in a tent in a Jersey parking lot isn’t good enough reason for me. It has no basis in law. And blindly surrendering rights to an authority with no legal basis is a really bad idea.
If Jersey wants to do that, let them pass a well defined quarantine law. Not just snatch people on Chris Christie’s say so.
so lets let people ride their bikes around town!

“If Jersey wants to do that, let them pass a well defined quarantine law. Not just snatch people on Chris Christies say so.”
N.J. Stat. § 26:4-2 Updated in 2005
Authority. In order to prevent the spread of disease, the state department of health, and the local boards of health within their respective jurisdictions and subject to the state sanitary code, shall have power to maintain and enforce proper and sufficient quarantine, wherever deemed necessary.
Sounds clear cut to me. They already have the power to do what they DEEM necessary.
Transmission of Ebola virus from pigs to non-human primates
http://www.nature.com/srep/2012/121115/srep00811/full/srep00811.html
Ebola viruses (EBOV) cause often fatal hemorrhagic fever in several species of simian primates including human. While fruit bats are considered natural reservoir, involvement of other species in EBOV transmission is unclear. In 2009, Reston-EBOV was the first EBOV detected in swine with indicated transmission to humans. In-contact transmission of Zaire-EBOV (ZEBOV) between pigs was demonstrated experimentally. Here we show ZEBOV transmission from pigs to cynomolgus macaques
without direct contact.
Interestingly, transmission between macaques in similar housing conditions was never observed. Piglets inoculated oro-nasally with ZEBOV were transferred to the room housing macaques in an open inaccessible cage system. All macaques became infected. Infectious virus was detected in oro-nasal swabs of piglets, and in blood, swabs, and tissues of macaques. This is the first report of experimental interspecies virus transmission, with the macaques also used as a human surrogate. Our finding may influence prevention and control measures during EBOV outbreaks.
What USED TO BE on the Web page of the CDC as of 8/2/14:
“Though these recommendations focus on the hospital setting, the recommendations for personal protective equipment (PPE) and environmental infection control measures are applicable to any healthcare setting. In this guidance healthcare personnel (HCP) refers all persons, paid and unpaid, working in healthcare settings who have the potential for exposure to patients and/or to infectious materials, including body substances, contaminated medical supplies and equipment, contaminated environmental surfaces, or CONTAMINATED AIR.”
