It’s not just on Ebola that good science must prevail (Now it's getting ridiculous)
The Guardian & Observer ^ | November 1, 2014 | Nick Cohen

Posted on 11/01/2014 7:41:29 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Nay-sayers are all too quick to decry scientific findings if they don’t agree with their own cracked views.

Kaci Hickox embodies all the American values conservatives say they admire. She’s tough – you don’t volunteer to leave New England to stem the spread of Ebola in Sierra Leone unless you have courage. She’s a rugged individualist, filled with the pioneering spirit, who makes her own way, without waiting for the say-so of “big government”. No tax-dollar funded politician or bureaucrat is going to lock her up in the land of the free.

She knows, as every doctor knows, that Ebola is only transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids of a “symptomatic” person – that is a carrier who has developed or gone beyond the early symptoms of fevers and fatigue. Hickox has no symptoms and sees no reason to undergo house arrest to please an over-mighty state.

You’d have thought that American Republicans would applaud her. Instead, they want “big government” to bring her into line. The right-wing media negates their own selfish philosophy and condemn her as “self-centred, self-entitled”. Paul LePage, Maine’s loud-mouthed, know-nothing blubberball of a governor, threatens to place her under effective house arrest.

There’s an election on, as you may have guessed....

Yeah - Ebola’s not dangerous, so what is everyone worried about? :)

You know what is dangerous? Global Warming and low taxes.

Liberals tell us not to worry.

They can’t manage ebola. How they are going to manage climate change and a slowing economy?

And this IS EXACTLY the “message” that Obola’s new “czar” has been hired to put out: Repubbie’s are ignorant, anti-negro, anti-immigrant, non-science flat-earth deniers!

And, of course, Obola’s ABCNNBCBS press corpse follows in hand immediately.

The writer's view of any Conservative: "They can’t be convinced. They just have to be fought."

The Left want to wipe us out. They hunger for the time when we get put into the camps.

Aren’t there a number of people who don’t know how they got it? Maybe they were consorting with non-febrile infected people?

If I see that word “bodily” one more time, I’m going to jump off the curb.

I went to Girl Scout camp once. There were lots of spiders. I’m not going to any camp.

If the UK and Obama know all there is to know about the spread of Ebola, and everyone is safe, why is the disease still spreading?

She is CDC. She would sign the order to put you or me in quarantine, she just doesn’t want it applied to her.

Unless I’m mistaken.

I’d like to see some reports/elitist liberal politicians catch Ebola and then see how these types of stories read.

The precautionary principle only applies to global warming, not deadly communicable diseases.

She’s a rugged individualist

She's not a rugged anything. She's a CDC prissy princess who became flustered and humiliated when a forehead scan recorded a fever, and then she couldn't even handle a short time in quarantine.

Nigeria, which has been declared free of the virus

Um, yes, Mr. Cohen, and do you happen to know how Nigeria managed to do that? Hmmm?

While the article itself is vulgar and full of self-congratulating non scientific hatred without referring to the CDC’s own recent reports about the seemingly increased virulence of this strain plus the ability of the disease to infect people and the distance someone can sneeze or spit. Plus the ability of the disease to stay alive on non biological surfaces for 40 plus days and they claim they are being scientific. The comments section is quite abusive and full of hate.

One knob head even comments on Albert Camus’s book La Peste (The Plague) because he thinks no-one else will have read it. It’s about what happens in a town in Algeria when The Plague strikes. He seems to forget that the town was quarantined in the story preventing the disease from spreading through the Port and onto other areas. I don’t seem to be able to post there but it shows to me how people can purposely leave out information to suit their cause. Just like Obama’s Ebola Czar.

This is the only time I have seen a disease used as a political football and the safety of individuals put at risk because of political correctness.

Just as the MSM will not run photos of 9/11 any more, especially those of the people who choose jumping rather than the flames, neither do they run photos of Ebola patients.

Perhaps a few of those would change their minds.

(Warning: Google search page for "Ebola patients - images)

Dangerous: Someone smoking a cigarette in a bar, sea level rising 1 foot in the next 100+ years, a Christmas tree in the town square

Not Dangerous: Ebola, Isis

Does anybody need anymore proof Liberalism is a mental disease?

Do you get the feeling that Ron Klain’s job description is very similiar to Betsy Wright’s job description in the Clinton adminstration.

Will he be demonizing anyone who opposes the absurd Obama policies?

I don’t recall stories written about the homosexual flight attendant that had unprotected homo sex with unknown numbers of men and spread aids across the globe declaring him a radical conservative. What changed?
