Plurality of Republicans think Mitt Romney should run for president
HotAir ^ | October 29, 2014

Posted on 10/30/2014 11:29:17 PM PDT by Bettyprob

Is it relevant that his favorable rating among the general public is 36/47? Or that 58 percent think he doesn’t care about their problems versus just 42 percent who think he does? Or that 52 percent believe he’d lose again to Hillary, with a mere 24 percent confident in Romney victory?

Seventy-two percent of Republicans say he’s qualified to be president while independents split 49/30 in favor of those who agree. And yet, he trails Hillary 43/32 in a hypothetical 2016 match-up, with fully 13 percent saying they wouldn’t vote if given that choice. Sounds like just the sort of effervescent, galvanizing candidacy the GOP needs. Look on the bright side, though: There can’t possibly be more people willing to boycott a Clinton/Romney election than there are willing to boycott another Clinton/Bush election. Shucks, I’ll be boycotting that one myself.

-- ... life presents many arenas & battlefields, and I am about ready to walk from the political one. --

The political pyramid is a particularly unrewarding one. The people at the bottom work like the dickens, and all they get is a feeling of satisfaction (or loss). Only very few make it into the big bucks paid ranks, and that usually by nepotism or cronyism.

For the voter, participation makes little if any difference, except maybe on local races and ballot issues.

All that said, if politics is what floats ones boat, if that is the thing that makes one tick, then by all means, occupy yourself with it!

Bullsh*t.

A plurality of RINOs think so, merely.

If Mitt Romney runs, I will not vote for him, as I did not vote for him in 2012. No one in my family did.

We don’t vote for pro-abortion candidates and never will.

I don’t care how loud the caterwauling gets. No way.

“It seems that republicans love to run a proven loser.”

Popular vote 2012
Obama: 62.6 million
Romney: 59.1 million

Popular vote 2008
Obama: 69.5 million
McCain: 59.9 million

Romney could not outpoll McCain in a year when the economy was in the tank, people were outraged about Obamacare, the middle class was struggling with unemployment and higher taxes, gasoline prices had doubled in 4 years, and the Obama foreign policy had the Middle East in flames.

Romney’s son admitted after the election his father really didn’t want to be President.

How could anyone possibly believe Romney could be a viable candidate in 2016 unless the objective is to lose?

Romney admitted to not really wanting to be President in the last election!

The media is just dying to pick our candidate.

I think what disappointed me most of all about 2012 is what his running mate, Paul Ryan, became in the House. There is no way in cowboy h3ll I’d vote for such a pair again.

Just who are these people “POLLING”? Are they polling the eastern establishment? If there are polling those people they know personally, I’m quite sure they’ll get an accurate poll. Hell, according to the EASTERN ESTABLISHMENT anything west of the Potomac river is a foreign country.

I am not aware of a failed presidential candidate running again. Where is this coming from? I believe the voters are being prepared for another run by the power of suggestion. We are constantly being told by the news who the “strong” candidates are.

I agree! How can they run Romney again? They need to run a fresh face, a true conservative like Jeb Bush!(Does this actually need a sarc tag?)

He lost by just 3.9% of the popular vote, even though record numbers of Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians voted for Obama.

And Bush won the election of 2000 with a negative popular vote.

The only vote that counts:

Myth Romney - 206

Zero Obama - 332

Yeah.....that's what we all want to hear - a plurality of Republicans no less!

It's too good to maybe have, say, near unanimous, or crushing majority like say back with Reagan?

We now should just accept a plurality where half the Republicans go out and vote, and the other half stays home, or just opts to wander off to independent thinking.

Color me VERY encouraged by this ! /s [How can they expect anyone with a brain to not see that number three of the Loser Triumvirate (Dole, McCain, Romney) just won't fight?]

I voted for him 2 yr. ago, would do it again.
Is he my first or second choice? No
But he would be head and shoulders better than Fauxahontas.

King Putt is in power because millions of conservatives pouted over his being the candidate and stayed home.
Look what that has brought us. If we survive the next 2 yrs. Can we survive another dim admin.? Not likely.

Where did you get the popular vote totals? My impression is that Romney got more popular votes in 2012, than McCain did in 2008.

You don’t vote for the least worst pro-abortion candidate and so give the most pro-abortion candidate one more vote toward a win? The unborn, dead babies killed by Obama that might have lived under Romney thank you. Oh. And the dead Christians in the middle east also thank you.

Can’t blame you...it’s easy to see how someone else’s “stupid” can wear you down after a while. I read this and it felt like “brain freeze” creeping over me. Does not compute... Cheers and have a relaxing weekend.
