Maybe not a bad idea. South FL, especially Dade and Broward is like a third-world country with better roads.

Just another attempted shakedown from the corrupt crooks running Miami, ostensibly based on 'global warming'.

I predict complete failure.

Two more Dim Senators isn’t such a good thing, however. Most of the electoral votes would be in the new “state” as well.

IOW two new hard left pro amnesty pro homosexual special rights senators with a far left governor.

If they wanted to be productive move the capital from nowhere talahassee to central Orlando vicinity. (not Orlando itself)

Wouldn’t that make it the 58th state?

Maybe that part of Florida can join with Cuba (and then watch all of the good Cuban immigrants move to the north).

I’m guessing: South South Miami and North South Miami.

As someone who fled Broward County after more than 50 years, for northern Florida, I hope this movement gains traction. Personally I would prefer a border somewhat farther north, but the one that is proposed would be OK. South Florida is basically a third world banana republic, run by Caribbean immigrants who have been successful in permeating the culture with their values. The middle class has been squeezed out of Miami and now it is essentially the super-rich and the grindingly poor, not much in between.

My only surprise, and a little disappointment, is that this movement did not begin in northern Florida.

How exactly will splitting Florida in two help combat sea levels?
Flori-dah and Flori-duh.

I find the northern reaches of the new state very interesting.

If, and that is a very big IF, I supported this political and economic grab I would support a different northern boundary. My proposed boundary would follow the “natural” boundary of Stuart - Lake Okeechobee - Fort Myers following various interconnect canals , rivers, and waterways. There are only 17 bridges that cross this new boundary between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

That way, when (not if) the new government of the new state ran out of money, they could easily erect toll booths to extort (excuse me - collect) money from people traveling into their new, Democratically controlled, state.

BTW - one of the expressed reasons for the new state is because the rest of the state is “denying” the necessary funds from Dade County to combat the impact of climate change induced rising sea levels. Or at least that is what one of the local papers is reporting.

The problem with liberals is that, while they may wish to govern with liberalism as their ideology, they need to impose their control over the more productive members of societies, those being the republicans and conservatives.

Without those who produce, liberalism would arrive at a quick death on its own.

If Florida could split into 2 states, and each state were to divide the people along political lines, then,I’d be all for it, and I’d be living in the conservative new state, while watching the liberal new state dissolve into 3rd world status.
