A woman who was brutally beaten by three men on a Crown Heights sidewalk says the attack, which left her with a broken nose and facial lacerations, will not stop her from pursuing her modeling career. Gwendolyn Reyes, 21, was jumped by three muggers as she walked on Franklin Avenue between Prospect Place and St. Mark's Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 2nd. Yesterday the NYPD released security camera video of the assault and robbery:
Reyes, an aspiring model, says she found it "difficult to watch" the video, for obvious reasons. "They just rushed me, so the first thing I thought [was] 'Is this really happening?'" she tells CBS 2. "I just remember the whole attack, and them leaving me, I remember them just dragging me, and then I started yelling for someone to help me. And then that’s when I realized blood was coming from my face, but I didn’t know where from my face."
Reyes was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition with a broken nose and lacerations to her face. (Judging by her appearance on CBS 2 last night, she seems to have recovered remarkably.)
Reyes's assailants ran away with her cell phone and purse. No arrests have been made, but police released these images of the suspects.

Unfortunately about 80%-85% of the muggings come from one demographic.

There are many, many places where she could be out at 2:30 AM in NYC and remain as safe as safe can be; Crown Heights, however, is not one of them.

Unless and until the population decide to take back their streets and/or empower their police departments to sweep the streets, they are choosing to live with these risks...in the name of PC for fear of “offending” or being called a name [racist].

No doubt that the people who beat and robbed this aspiring model are themselves aspiring rappers.

Oh, that’s happened to me in a couple other big cities. Or rather the attempt was made. But I always (if legal) have a knife on me and I know how to use it. Sometimes (again if legal) a concealed handgun.
Some reason, muggers turn tail and run when you pull a weapon and they realize that they could be the one who gets hurt.
Now, I am 6’4” and just under 190 lbs., so my size plus a knife is a viable deterent. A gun is always a viable deterent regardless of your size.
My point? ALWAYS BE ARMED. And avoid places you aren’t allowed to be armed if at all possible! (I personally avoid several entire cities and states unless business makes it absolutely mandatory that I go there.)

The vast majority of blacks are appalled at this behavior, probably moreso than the community at large, because it reinforces prejudice.
I'm just lamenting the tendency for some to lapse into the same broad-brushing which they decry when it is indulged in by the black community.
It serves no constructive purpose, and indeed I believe it does more harm than good.
