Barack Obama’s emphatic and repeated promise not to deploy new American combat forces in Iraq now appears to have put the president into an extremely awkward and possibly indefensible position.
Reports from various news sources show that Obama’s limited air campaign against ISIS has failed to stop the aggressive onslaught by the terror organization. And number of military experts have recently criticized the president’s “no boots on the ground” approach as anemic and ineffective.
A senior government official in Iraq is now claiming that up to 10,000 armed fighters for the Islamic State are amassed at the very gates of Baghdad, poised to assault the capital, according to The Telegraph.
Iraqi officials have issued a desperate plea for America to bring US ground troops back to the embattled country, as heavily armed Islamic State militants came within striking distance of Baghdad.
Amid reports that Isil forces have advanced as far as Abu Ghraib, a town that is effectively a suburb of Baghdad…Sabah al-Karhout, president of the provisional council of Anbar Province, [warned that] the vast desert province to the west of Baghdad has now largely fallen under jihadist control.

When I hear of flights of B-52’s dropping thousands of bombs, I’ll believe this air campaign is serious. The current level of airstrikes is BS. The problem isn’t that we don’t have troops on the ground - it’s that we’re not putting enough planes in the air.
Maybe 0-Tard put his CDC chief in charge of dealing with ISIS too.......

This air campaign was just an election year gimmick to make it appear as if he was doing something. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this is pure political theater.
Fail doesn’t even begin to describe that absolute disaster from hell. The Democrats made probably the worst possible decision ever in this countries history by putting this fool into office where it is becoming increasingly clear day by day that he is an enemy of the United states. During war time, Democrats put the very enemy we are fighting into the nations highest office, that is bottom line.
The goal of the Democrat Party is not to efficiently and effectively govern.

I despise this internet use of the word ‘fail’ as shorthand for ‘failure’. It is as if the human race is degenerating to the point where words with too many syllables are too confusing for the modern mind to comprehend. I assume the next generation will be reduced to grunts an hand gestures to communicate like Neanderthals.
He can’t send in troops in any number because it would show he was wrong to pull them out in the first place.
Of course, he was wrong to pull them out in the first place. Having spent vast sums of blood and treasure to take Iraq away from the Baathists and subsequently the jihadists, Obama has given it back.
The most charitable explanation is incompetence. The more likely explanation is malevolence.
I believe ISIS is a Turkish/Saudi/Obama enterprise. They have become a PR problem for Obama but they are still his project to the extent he has any influence in his own regime. I tend to believe Obama is a figurehead, but his ruling coalition backed and armed ISIS.

Let’s not forget how we got here. Let’s not forget CNN and the other left wing media AND politicians making the Iraq war out to be the biggest debacle in the world. They spent five years trying to convince low info a-holes in America that our military was getting their butts kicked in Iraq. Yes, YOU Lou Dobbs and your nightly death toll count, as if they were significant losses.
The American public is to freakin historically ignorant to understand that the war on terror was THE MOST ONE SIDED VICTORY IN THE HISTORY OF HUMAN CONFLICT!

Obama's strategy is not a failure if his goal is to see to it that the jihadists win. There is nothing in his record to suggest that he doesn't want that.
Anyway, if all of Iraq falls under ISIS apart perhaps from a few areas under the Kurds or Iranian-backed Shi'ites, the Democrats will be able to use it as a campaign issue in 2016: it's all because Bush removed Saddam Hussein from power. If the sheeple were willing to blame the poor economy in 2012 on Bush, they'll be willing to blame the disasters of Obama's foreign policy on Bush.
Yeah, some nice carpet bombing should make a difference.
