The first case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States has caused some to call on the United States to ban travel for anyone from the countries in West Africa facing the worst of the Ebola epidemic....
We don't want to isolate parts of the world, or people who aren't sick, because that's going to drive patients with Ebola underground, making it infinitely more difficult to address the outbreak...
A travel ban is not the right answer. It’s simply not feasible to build a wall – virtual or real – around a community, city, or country. A travel ban would essentially quarantine the more than 22 million people that make up the combined populations of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.
When a wildfire breaks out we don't fence it off. We go in to extinguish it before one of the random sparks sets off another outbreak somewhere else.

Living in Atlanta, the home of the CDC where a lot of people are employed, I was chatting with one of the girls(and I must admit to heresay here) but she said one of the “higher up” officials admitted on the qt that more than likely, it is airborne as well.
The stupid. The stupid burns. His explanations are so ridiculously stupid they defy logic. We build firelines to prevent them from spreading. If a fire is out of control firefighters prevent it from spreading. How is banning people from travelling outside of ebola countries going to drive patients underground??? Is he admitting they WILL be jumping on a plane? All Obama supporters are complete morons. If they still support him now they are beyond redemption.

That’s right. They can restrict commercial passenger travel without restricting supplies and medics. Just use military flights for that purpose. Medics can return on those flights.
The other advantage of allowing military flights is that, if it really gets out of control, they can drop an incendiary device.

I thought most of us on the right are demanding quarantine procedures for those coming into the US from infected areas.
How is rational quarantine precautions “a ban?”
Of course you contain and isolate a fire and try to extinguish it. These are not mutually exclusive as this idiot seems to think.
For centuries people with infectious diseases were screened and isolated. If this idiot thinks we should not do that then he should be replaced.

They don’t know they are sick until they have symptoms and then they become critically sick. How underground are they going to get? Lie on a travel form about being exposed?
But a city-wide ban on secondary smoke makes sense to this man who set the health policies for Bloomberg. Transfats? 32oz sodas? All totally banned...but no prob letting Ebola infected people into the USA. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
