Ebola-hit Liberia has suspended nationwide elections in the latest measure to combat an epidemic which has shut down society in three west African nations, restricting travel and forcing the cancellation of public events.
Almost three million voters had been due to take part in Senate polls on Tuesday but organisers said there was no way a "mass movement, deployment and gathering of people" could go ahead without endangering lives.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was exercising powers under a state of emergency announced in August "to suspend... any and all rights ordinarily exercised, enjoyed and guaranteed to citizens," the foreign office said in a statement issued late Wednesday, quoting a presidential proclamation.
Liberia, which has seen more than half of the almost 4,000 deaths so far in the outbreak ravaging west Africa, had been due to elect half of its legislative upper chamber.
The election commission said in a statement it had recommended the postponement because it could not conduct "a free, fair, transparent and credible election" because of the epidemic.

QUESTION: What will you do IF Obama cancels the election in November because of Ebola—and the election in 2016—and rules for a 3rd term by decree “Until the crisis is solved.” Will you march in the streets like the people of Egypt? Will you march if their was danger like in Iran? Will you take up arms against the Government? Like the Patriots of old? Would you urge Session like the South in 1860? Or will you sit back and complain on FR until the Federal Police come knocking at your door? See you in the camps bother.
"Maybe dat's tha plan, an' I don't understand...
God damn! You got me sinkin' in quicksand!
An' since I don't know, an' I ain't ever learn,
I gotta git paid, I got money to earn...
This was my response LINK to LINK
I have no idea what you based your response on, so there's not really anything for me to explain or defend.
Are you sure you meant to respond to me?
Is it ellipsis... or is it ellipse?
That's why I always use ellipsises as the plural of "dot-dot-dot".
Heh.
Absentee balloting provides a complete and satisfactory alternative to anyone who wishes to avoid disease exposure issues. IIRC, Oregon uses it 100%.
Zero reason for canceling an election.
Good reason to volunteer as part of the elections process: early notification of such nonsense, “standing” to protest, know what alternative balloting backup methods exist (paper etc), and connections to go ahead with providing a viable polling site regardless. Make sure ballots are cast _somehow_; much harder to refuse votes if they’re cast.
Be practical. Make the election happen. Don’t let anyone talk it to death.

There’s no viable alternative, with the extent of Ebola in their country. How would you open the polls? How could they deny voting to someone who’s showing signs? It’s a total mess, but I don’t see any alternative for LIberia.
Remember, it was Liberia’s president who in no uncertain terms condemned Duncan’s lying to get out of the country and come to the US which she acknowledged was “helping so much.” She also said if he’d survived he’d have been charged in Liberia.
I feel badly for that country. They were just overcoming years of civil war, and now this. Truly tragic.
Just issue hazmat suits with your voter ID. Problem solved.
Watch early voting turnout.
I do not believe that this administration is competent enough to keep this secret if they try it. Someone will blab.
The tactic would be to get all the democrat voters to vote early (in the first week or two) or absentee. The weekend before the election, have multiple outbreaks in major cities and shut down voting. Claim that the early voting numbers are enough to go on.
Only way I see they could keep the Senate and have a chance at the house.
It will not work. Does not mean that they will not try.
As to those who say the “elites” would be stupid to put themselves at risk of catching Ebola, who says the cases will be real? Even if they are, the “elites” believe they are too good to get it. After all it is an African disease and only poor people get it.
Also it would be interesting to find out how much of the vaccine that we know works on europeans there really is or will be by November. Maybe that is why they are not worried
30. A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.
And why they want to off the military before they can stop it
I believe this too
Scary times we live in
If anyone really would, this is not the place to be discussing it
Still... I can do the dictionary reference too!
ellipsis
/ɪˈlɪpsɪs/
noun (pl) -ses (-siːz)
1. Also called eclipsis. omission of parts of a word or sentence
2. (printing) a sequence of three dots ( ) indicating an omission in text
Word Origin
C16: from Latin, from Greek elleipsis omission, from elleipein to leave out, from leipein to leave
Now, if you check the above refrenced "eclipsis", a similarly correct spelling of the plural is eclipsises. You see, it depends where you go... my way causes no confusion. :)
Other than pronunciation, there is no way to tell if "ellipses" is this:
OR...
... . . . …
S S S?
Thanks for the ping!
