Word Origin

C16: from Latin, from Greek elleipsis omission, from elleipein to leave out, from leipein to leave

Now, if you check the above refrenced "eclipsis", a similarly correct spelling of the plural is eclipsises. You see, it depends where you go... my way causes no confusion. :)

Other than pronunciation, there is no way to tell if "ellipses" is this:
