Six years after offering hope and change, polls show the American public has fallen out of love with their president – so where did it all go wrong?
Barack Obama romped to the presidency of the United States in 2008 on a tidal wave of ‘hope and change’. Back then, the financial crisis was raging and US troops were still engaged in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, but a fresh-faced Mr Obama brimmed with confidence.
He predicted that future generations would look back on his election and see the moment “when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal…when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.”
Six years later, Mr Obama is weary and greyed and finds his job approval ratings stuck in the low-40s. This October is the 17th consecutive months in which polls show that a majority of Americans disapprove of his leadership.
With November’s mid-term elections less than a month away, even fellow Democrats won't be seen dead with the man who once transformed their party's fortunes. Apart from some closed-door fundraisers, Mr Obama is all but invisible on the campaign trail.
So where did it all go wrong?

This sort of article is catnip for FReepers and like-minded individuals but skepticism is still the watchword.
Roughly half the American public wanted nothing to do with Obama in the first place, therefore any claim of ‘love’ is specious at best.

Whenever someone promises unspecified change wise people run the other way.
The unwise think the promise means what they want it to mean.
Like clockwork, they get screwed every time but never seem to learn anything.
But everyone in the media loved him. And everyone that anyone in the media knows loved him. Those are the only people that count.
The only ones that didn't love him were those racist hicks in fly-over country that insist on clinging to guns or religion instead of embracing Our Glorious Leader The Won.
Pretty good. They go through the litany of his failures but do leave out the IRS scandal.
When I reading the heading, I thought Reggie had left.
Not the almost half who have been put on the Obama Cash dole.
His fellow Marxists woke up to his incompetence and the rest figured out he hates America.

The bloom was off the rose within one year of this guy taking office. We now know that he won re-election in 2012 by:
Using the IRS to shut down opposition fund raising and otherwise silence and intimidate opposition.
Lying about scandals such as Bengahzi and repressing all those who would or could tell the truth.
Declaring GM alive and Bin Laden dead while recalls from the aforementioned loomed and Al Queda simply changed its branding.
Bragged about getting us out of Iraq when getting us out of Iraq has put us right back in it, only in worse shape.
Rigged the unemployment numbers.
Delayed the implementation of Obamacare (and continues to do so) while lying about liking a doctor and keeping a plan or something.
Ridiculing Romney (not a hard task since Romney was ridiculous) for warning about Russia and the danger it posed.
And on and on and on. Not one goddamned thing this guy said during the election was true or has held water.

When the bong hit wore off.
He’ll get credit for stopping global warming.
A few others who don't like "the Messiah" are those apostate* Jews like myself who don't worship at the god of the demorat party or reject capitalism and the Constitution that have made my creed so prosperous in this country.
*By apostate I mean those Jews that don't worship the religion of Democrat party liberalism, of course.
