~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Anniston Army Depot, Alabama Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) is a major United States Army facility fulfilling various depot operations. Primary missions are production and repair of ground combat vehicles, overhaul of Small Arms Weapon Systems and the storage of chemical weapons (Anniston Chemical Activity). The depot is located in Bynum, Alabama. The depot employs over 5,000 people and covers 25 square miles of land. Tanks and other equipment are repaired and tested there, but historically Anniston's main role has been as a major munitions storage site, since WWII. ANAD is the only depot capable of performing maintenance on heavy-tracked combat vehicles and their components and houses a state of the art 250,000 square foot Small Arms Overhaul facility that opened in January 2012 replacing a previous facility that was outdated. The depot is designated as the Center of Technical Excellence for the M1 Abrams Tank and is the designated candidate depot for the repair of the M60 Patton tank, AVLB, M728, M88 Recovery Vehicle and M551 combat vehicles. During the Iraq War, over 1,000 M1 tanks, howitzers and other armored vehicles were stored awaiting re-engineering. ANAD is also the Army's primary site for final assembly, reset and overhaul for the Stryker family of wheeled fighting vehicles. All ten of the Stryker vehicle variants are assembled in the Nichols Industrial Park area by Contractor General Dynamics Land Systems. Stryker Battle Damage Repair and Reset is accomplished through a work sharing arrangement between the depot and contractor, including a Stryker Exchange Program that converts the original flat bottomed Stryker vehicle to the IED-resistant Double V Hull configuration developed for combat operations in Afghanistan. Learn More About Anniston Army Depot HERE!! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. Porch sitting is still in vogue!
I am looking at the hillsides colored in most beautiful shades of reds, yellows, browns, light green, etc. Gorgeous weather, yesterday it was 70F.
The birds which come to the feeder are Chick a dees, Finches, also Blue Jays. You should see those big oafs trying to get on the little feeder, hilarious.
Last night it did not get as cold. We have the boiler fired up and I have a small propane gas heater in my rooms.
The end if this month will be one year since I moved here. I miss city living, my apartment was in the neighborhood I was born in. In fact I was a few blocks away from my birth house.
First months were hard for me as I was in rehab for the leg wound.
My grandson is home for a few days, he lives in another state, but came home for his cousins’ (another grandson’s) wedding. The wedding was held outside, under a huge tent. The weather was lousy, rain and cold, not great for a wedding, however a wedding was held.

Update on Tiffany and Baby Emma:
My son just called. Something has caused the doctors to decide to do an emergency C-section. That is all we know at this time. I will update when further information is obtained. Please pray for Emma and Tiffany.

UPDATE ON BABY EMMA AND MOTHER:
Emma Liliana Rose Pinnell arrived by C-Section at 1:44 am this morning California time (she was born in FL). Doctors had prepped for the C-Section yesterday late afternoon due to Emma being under some type of distress. However, things calmed down, and doctors decided to wait. Then, a scan done really late last night, early this morning revealed an infection in the womb, and doctors decided it was time.
Emma weighed in at 2.53 pounds. I do not have the length yet. Baby and mom are both doing very well.
On a side note, I find myself somewhat torn. I'm very happy that baby and mom are doing well, but I'm a bit miffed too. Thanks to my daughter-in-law and son, I will now not be able to compete with the birthday present they just gave to my wife (today is her birthday).
Oh well.
Please give my thanks to all the Prayer Warriors who have provided prayers for Emma and Tiffany.
