Hmmm. I may be mistaken but I think the Apache AH-64 attack helicopters operate at a considerable less altitude than F18, F22 etc.
The “air-war” is getting closer and closer to troops in the field. My guess is, we are one lucky SAM shot from several thousand combat troops in Iraq and Syria.

Why, heck yeah-—If there ever was an appropriate defense machine it would be an APACHE ATTACK helicopter GUNSHIP. Yeah. They can defend the heck out of those ISISES. To paraphrase the old 101 airborne trooper when he got into St Lo: they can liberate the hell out of Iraq.
