WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents?
The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate.
“It is something that is widespread in black circles,” said Representative Emanuel Cleaver II of Missouri, who like Mr. Cummings is an African-American Democrat who has been approached repeatedly by voters expressing such a concern. “I’ve been hearing this for some time: ‘Well, the Secret Service, they’re trying to expose the president.’ You hear a lot of that from African-Americans in particular.”
Both Mr. Cummings and Mr. Cleaver said that they did not believe the Secret Service lapses reported recently had anything to do with Mr. Obama’s race and that they had tried to dispel the notion among their constituents. But the profound doubts they have encountered emphasize the nation’s persistent racial divide and reflect an abiding fear for Mr. Obama’s security that has unnerved blacks still mindful of the assassinations of Malcolm X and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

They’re setting him up to be a martyr! They will not let the first Black President fail. This is all prelude, I’m thinking. Either that or the CIA sent in a runner to let Zero know it was time to back off.
This Secret Service problem is just more evidence that ‘Affirmative Action’ doesn’t work.
Yes it is anti- white racism. Imagine if the roles were reversed, and black SS agents were accused of not protecting a white prez. The accusers would be painted as racists in a NY minute.

Frankly, I don’t mind listening to what *Americans* (of any color) have to say about most any subject, but I’m beyond tired of hearing the “black” viewpoint. Black SS agents, black teachers, black congressional caucus, black community organizers, black welfare mommas, black victims, black thugs, black Starbucks baristas, black pundits, black this, black that, yadda yadda yadda.
Put a sock in it, “blacks”.
Well then Bammy should just fire his SS protection and hire the Black Panthers for his security. That should satisfy his sheeples.

A retired black marine works for my husband, a pretty great guy but liberal as they come. He stopped at our house the other night and told us he had left his CADILLAC car keys in Lowes and someone had turned them in to the front desk. When he went in to get them, the manager asked for his ID before giving them to him. He was ranting to us about it, he felt they were targeting him because he was black and couldn’t possibly be driving a new Cadillac. I said, “David, why does something always have to be about your color, maybe that was just their policy.” He said, it is always about being black, blah, blah, blah.

So far that hasn’t worked too well either. He’s still taking vacations on our dollar.
You beat me to it! Except I was thinking Black Muslims rather than Black Panthers. Farrakhan could send over some big, bow-tie wearing brothers to protect Hussein from the dhimmis. Probably wouldn’t see them getting into any foreign-hooker problems, either.
On the other hand, who knows? Maybe George Soros has decided that the only way to save Bammy’s popularity and progressive legacy is to go the Kennedy route.
Exactly. They are paranoid little rabbits who see the fictional white boogeyman around every corner. Such superficial human beings who base EVERYTHING on the color of one’s skin. Yet WE are supposed to be totally color-blind.
If anyone cared to look into the security flubs involving former presidents, I am sure, beyond those in which the sitting president was shot, they would find security lapses too. Besides, this clown goes to the extreme of avoiding any dangerous situations i.e. he would not go near the border which was probably not only a political risk but he knew he could be in personal danger from one of those poor wretches and their drug cartel assistors bringing them over the border.
Obola is perfectly protected, SS or not.
If anyone made an attempt on his life, the ****storm would be beyond belief.
We would see martial law, door-to-door gun confiscation, and race riots like we’ve never seen before.

I might add, attacks from foreign sources are not going to happen either.

I’m with you. I don’t think Elijah Cummings has set foot in a grocery store since the 1970’s. He’s got staff lackeys to do all that for him now.
