WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents?
The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate.
“It is something that is widespread in black circles,” said Representative Emanuel Cleaver II of Missouri, who like Mr. Cummings is an African-American Democrat who has been approached repeatedly by voters expressing such a concern. “I’ve been hearing this for some time: ‘Well, the Secret Service, they’re trying to expose the president.’ You hear a lot of that from African-Americans in particular.”
Both Mr. Cummings and Mr. Cleaver said that they did not believe the Secret Service lapses reported recently had anything to do with Mr. Obama’s race and that they had tried to dispel the notion among their constituents. But the profound doubts they have encountered emphasize the nation’s persistent racial divide and reflect an abiding fear for Mr. Obama’s security that has unnerved blacks still mindful of the assassinations of Malcolm X and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Maybe I'm just paranoid ... but I think that's a complete fabrication.
JFK was white. Reagan was white. Ford was white. Even Lincoln was white.
There is no position to which the media will not contort itself to protect Obama.
The Secret Service’s problems of their own making. But IF they had help, it came from those already hostile to law enforcement i.e. race hustlers from Chicago.
What do you expect in a nation where unarmed, young black teens who are just going about their day are savagely shot down and murdered by racist white cops...did I capture the sentiment?
This one is entirely, 100% the fault of Barack Obama.
He could have staffed the secret service with competent, experienced, individuals. He CHOSE to have the agency led by a bunch of useless affirmative action politicians.
Exactly, obama created this situation, and now lock-step blacks and a compliant media are doing everything they can to deflect blame from where it belongs...as usual.
I wouldn’t put it past Cummings to be one of the people who are fomenting the false narrative in the black community to get them angry and voting during the midterm election. After all, it’s the same Elijah Cummings who has done nothing but block Issa’s investigations of the Obama scandals, and the same one who falsely accused the crowd outside of the Capital for saying the “N” word to him after Obamacare was passed. Once he showed a lack of integrity, why should we trust him?

The President is the boss- they don’t tell him how they will protect him, he tells them.
I think Cummins made it up 100%- since this story just broke recently.
The use of the historical basis is only useful for minorities to justify their racism.
Anyone of the paler screen variety can’t use this defense and I think justifiably so, why the different standards?
No Race on the planet is without the ability to point at history for justification if you get right down to it.
Naturally, nobody will connect this with the overall incompetence of the PC crowd that they themselves put into office.

Oh here we go. I noticed quite an increase in black Secret Service agents around the President, at least in his first few years/appearances. This kind of speculation just adds to the pile. But, hey, it keeps the fans on the flames, right NYT?
