The GOPe wing of Free Republic requires that the Conservative wing of Free Republic swallow our distaste for their Democrat-Lite Karl Rove Approved (TM) candidates in order to win seats labeled (R) at the expense of conservative principle.
Okay, let's put the shoe on the other foot: If Ted Cruz is winning 45% of the Republican vote in early primaries, will you require your Karl Rove Approved (TM) candidate withdraw and unreservedly throw your support behind the winning candidate Ted Cruz?
Slightly differently stated, are you primarily interested in beating Democrats or Conservatism?
Overall I think we are on the same page. Just the details really are where we are differing.
But I totally agree we are not using all the tools in the box.
I will vote 3rd Party...Maybe the rest are as fed up as I am and we will all (except you) vote 3rd Party...
Yup (what a surprise :P ).
Thanks for the Ping!
Let it echo in the halls of the Chamber of Commerce, Statehouses, RNC headquarters, and across the fields of the Crawford ranch.
Conservatives only! “Statists” need not apply.
Sorry about the missing sarc Tag. Loved your response!
Which is why Cruz is THE litmus test for the GOPe. Cruz is smack center of every conservative issue. If you can’t support him if he’s winning, you want to destroy conservatism generally.
Or, as one Freeper told me when most of us had resigned ourselves to voting for the liberal squish Romney, "We're gonna hold his feet to the fire!"
I asked him how we were going to do that after Romney was elected, and he just stared at me with a blank look.
Even though their policies are twins.
Bu--but, Freepers have crossed their hearts and hoped to die, that a liberal R is FAR better than a liberal D.
Can't say I fully grasp their logic, but I don't want to argue with them. They might call me a "purist" or sumpin.
Well, one thing for sure is that they will call you names. Which name they call you is according to which flavor that month. And as a bonus, they will accuse you of electing Obama.
Thanks for being one of those who sees the simple logic that running a staunch conservative will win, versus running a weak-kneed, lily-livered, RINO who will lose.
Past elections have proven time and time again that conservatism wins every time it's tried. It's time our side learned from history.
I've run that entire gauntlet here, since before Mittens was the 2012 nominee. I gots the scabs to prove it!
This is why I prefer Skyrim to reality these days.
The people there have more sense than the average bot out here even if they are only computer AI and pixels on a screen.
That and all disputes are settled with swords ;)
I mean in ‘real’ reality we have absurdities like ‘conservatives’ admonishing us for not voting for liberals so virtual reality where black is still black, white/white, up/up and down/down is a far saner and more believable place to be.
Hang in there buddy!!! I am pulling for you.
It's the Obola, man. It's frikken contagious.

And I know of a GREAT AJ Hello Trey !!!!
TT
I didn't know we had one!
It’s already been established in previous cycles that if a conservative is winning a primary, the GOPe will withdraw monetary support and withhold endorsements. They basically become an anchor around the neck of their frontrunner.
Thus, the GOPe enables a race where the MSM favorably reports about the Party D candidate unreservedly while Party R foot-drags to indirectly undermine their own.
That was the mantra in 2008. Even Party D, which she served tirelessly for decades, threw her over for someone whom they knew would be objectively worse. Then it was, "Uh, uh, uh...I mean, elect our party's Official Party D-Loving 'Maverick'or we'll get OBAMA!"
And 2008 was closer than 2012, when the unoffensive Romney was the Party R pick.
