God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

Don’t bother SoFlo, there is no arguing with that type of person that hates the “GOP-E” so much that they can’t see the democrats that are stabbing the country in the face.

Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach with them, can’t do it.

You don’t have to write such tomes to prove you want to SAVE HARRY REID. Just put it in your tagline.

If you think you can win by losing,

Such crap. Dole, Bush I, McCain - they lost big time, and not because we stayed home and did not vote for them. So stuff your bullshite.

then you are setting the US up to become North Argentina. Or North Venezuela. With a government-dependent underclass so large that it cannot be outvoted but requires a coup to subdue! That is what will happen over time if you cede the political arena on principle!

Translation: Conservative principles SUCK and cannot win elections, anyone who sticks with Conservative Principles and refuses to vote for a liberal is a loser - so vote the 'R' Party no matter who it is, or you will be blamed for everything bad that happens.

Sums you people and your agenda up.

Yes you are if you want the USA destroyed even QUICKER than it’s going down now.

You misunderstand entirely. I DON'T want the US destroyed. I want a Constitutional Republic like the Founders envisioned. Voting for RINO's WILL NOT get us there. Will the inevitable end come quicker with Democrats? Absolutely, which is fine by me, because then we'll actually be able to be constructive and productive in our efforts to restore the Republic. It won't happen by voting for RINO's, but again, some people just enjoy having smoke blown up their nose and being stabbed in the back. I'm not one of those.

they can’t see the democrats that are stabbing the country in the face.

Once again, we DO see them, and we prefer them out front where we can see them and fight back, instead of getting stabbed in the back by our own party. Morons vote for RINO's and the GOPe. Real Americans see things for what they are, and vote their conscience.

If Ted Cruz himself were to personally phone these people and plead for their help in retaking the Senate, they’d hang up on him.

If Harry Reid himself were to personally phone these people and thank them for helping him keep the Senate, they’d say ‘well SOMEBODY has to teach the GOPe a lesson!’

They blatantly ignore that the GOPe doesn’t ‘learn’ lessons.

60% of Americans want Zerocare repealed. Cruz has sworn to do it. Hopefully there will be enough RATS voting to give Cruz the Senate to cancel out the SAVE HARRY REID votes.

Very adeqate assessment...

As usual we are still left with the fact, the republican party is all we have, and it doesn’t seem that excuse is wearing yet too thin, with most.

I’ve been saying constantly “We The People” have failed our Free Republic, we have a mandate to overthrow our corrupt, incompetent, criminal government, we have no excuse, and no one to blame but ourselves, yet we are content to point the finger anywhere and everywhere else, whilst pretending that whining and complaining will get things done, as long as we see the only solution as political, all will remain the same, IMO!

Go back up and read verse 13.

Verse 14 happens AFTER verse 13.

We do not get a chance to repent until AFTER we suffer the calamities.

The Colonists believed they were suffering the tyranny of the king and parliament because of our national sins and in the 1760s the pulpits were aflame with fiery sermons about repentance.

You cannot even get the churches today to discuss repentance because they say they are rich and have everything they need in Jesus.

Now, you're just resorting to stupid hyperbole. That's just the kind of crap one would find on D.U.

balderdasious drivel

the case is overstated by a geometric factor

the Republican party is in fact not in perfect alignment with radical conservative values but many many people that consider themselves conservative vote Republican because for president there is no person with charismatic stature able to win the primary.

I could go on, but know it would be just a waste of band width.
An outsider happening on this thread will learn that there are rational souls on Free Republic

Lemme get this straight: You are slamming us for getting liberals elected by voting for REAL Conservatives, while you vote for liberals. That makes sense how?

"They blatantly ignore that the GOPe doesn’t ‘learn’ lessons."

And yet, you claim we can "punish them later" after we get them into office?

Hmmm...interesting.

And just to head off any idiotic ad hominems and name calling, the GOP won't get a dime, but Ted Cruz would get $$'s and a vote.

Have you ever considered maybe the GOPe doesn’t WANT to recapture the Senate, because then the Conservative would overpower their Amnesty and Zerocare agenda?

Does the GOPe ACT like they want to win? No, they don’t, do they? They’ve spent 100% of their money and energy attacking conservatives, not Democrats (their ally).

The GOPe WANTS you to stay home, like they did in 2012.

That way a conservative takeover of the Senate cannot happen. So, YOU are the one obeying your Republican Overlords!
