The Detroit City Council on Thursday unanimously approved a plan to return oversight of daily operations to elected officials while retaining the citys state-appointed emergency manager to oversee bankruptcy matters until they are resolved.
Kevyn Orr, who was appointed by the state in March 2013 to manage Detroits troubled finances and who took the city into the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, said Thursday that Detroit is more than ready for the change.

From what I read and know about former Mayor Bing he could have really transformed Detroit. But no one person in the Mayoral position can do anything to change Detroit because you have to deal with the regressive Detroit City Council. Free stuff is all they care about. Detroit needs a dictator.

“Chairman” Colemao Young was a dictator, how did that work out for Detroit ?
To: fieldmarshaldj
Bing is a business man. He would have been a benevolent dictator. Bing had it in his heart that he really wanted to transform Detroit.

People should have voted for Snyder's original emergency manager plan which would have given the manager the power to fire city council members.

LOL! While true, I suspect the end result would have made the '67 scuffle look like a neighborhood bar-b-q........
