A real-life horror story is playing out in Africa as Ebola spreads, and President Obamas decision to send 3,000 troops to Liberia to combat the virus could very well put Americans at risk of contracting the deadly illness at home, some health experts say.
According to the World Health Organization, at least 4,985 people have contracted Ebola and at least 2,461 have died. Several doctors have fallen ill with Ebola, and two of them have died. New reports indicate a Doctors Without Borders staff member has contracted the virus in Liberia and will be evacuated to France for treatment.
You can see that these doctors, who are highly trained people, got themselves infected, said Dr. Lee Hieb, former president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. So sending troops into an area, if theyre dealing one-on-one with a patient, theyre not going to be able to protect themselves very well. Its not easy to [prevent transmission], because you get tired and you get careless and you make some simple mistakes. All it takes is one virus particle.
Dr. Hieb said quarantine measures should be taken to control the outbreak and prevent Ebola from coming to America.
You dont get Ebola from Europe, she told WND. You get Ebola from Africa. And its a really simple formula: Dont let people fly to America if theyve been to areas where theres an outbreak. When theres an outbreak, stop air [traffic] flow.
Hieb added, If theyre going to use the troops to do population control, which is one of the ways you contain it, basically you just dont let anybody out. Youd make a ring around where it is, and youd quarantine the area.

No one has a clue unless you tell us, we maintain a large military in Africa.
Yes, but if they were headed overseas, they would be hiring general contractors with specialized knowledge in constructing hospitals to accompany them. Instead, we appear to be appealing to the lowest common denominator by sending in infantry, logistics/supply and perhaps some combat engineers.
THAT is ALSO a great observation.
When will America REALIZE we DON’T have a fool in the White House - we have a cunning Monster there.

Thanks for the ping.
returning troops could possibly infect the military on the bases to which they return.
You keep saying that we are sending in soldiers that don’t have the skills to do what they are being sent there to do, that we are sending “”a military NCO who sometimes can keep a generator running.”” as far as I have seen we are sending in the correct people, you even described some of them as logistics/supply and engineers.
If anyone can build 17 treatment centers, handle logistics, and train 500 people a week in procedure to help in preventing Ebola spreading, it is our Army and DOD.
What is your source that we are sending in untrained boobs and machine gunners to do construction, medical training, and supply/logistics?
Since the United States Army is the world's experts in this area in preventing this from happening, we have to assume that they have thought of this.
See post 118.

That would be Valerie Jarrett, the Executive Puppet Master.
ALL 3000 should do like Patriot Lt. Col. Lakin.
Ebola NOT war, but community organizing like Acorn!!!
It’s not *irresponsible*.
It’s TREASON!
Impeach him.....
Here’s an original thought. Why don’t you clue yourself in for a change? Do you think the SEAL’s are going over there to nursemaid Ebola vics? I guess you will have to wait for the next installment of GG2 to get clued in. LOL!
Read my post 83 again CAREFULLY. There is a very huge difference in a land base design team and being a crew-member. Even being selected for a crew-member status still doesn't guarantee it. Subs and ships undergo very strict operational readiness evaluations {Sea Trials} at sea under simulated combat and disaster/casualties situations and Officers must give correct responses. Rickover would likely not head up that team BTW. Those teams can end commissioned careers or get Nuke Officers placed elsewhere such as Deck Dept Officer on a conventional ship instead. The same for enlisted as well when it comes to the Nuke Program and even more so to the submarine fleet. One mental lapse especially by an officer can end ones time as a Bubblehead.
The MPA I had his next duty was heading a propulsion plant examination team on a readiness evaluation team.
Further to the point some engineers can function on a genius level in a textbook or planning environment but lack the ability and judgement skills needed to become operational engineers. IOW book smart and that’s it. Carter would not have been taken to the sub and Rickover say here ya go Jimmy.
Here is a thought, the American military operates bases in Africa, has GIs in well over a dozen African countries, conducts military operations and rotates troops in and out.
Unless you tell us where he is going to, we don’t have the foggiest idea what in the world you are ranting about.
Rickover hand picked him, give it up.

Whats that got to do with Obama announcing that he is sending 3,000 troops to Africa to combat the Ebola? Answer: Zippo
OStumbles has announced that the troops will help build a 25 bed Ebola unit. I’m sure that will make a huge difference. I can’t believe he had the stones to say it with a straight face.

I can’t believe the things that you post with a straight face.
“”Obama will announce the new push on Tuesday during a visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. It will include a U.S.-led joint command center in Monrovia, Liberia, and 17 new Ebola treatment centers that will each treat as many as 100 patients””
“”The U.S. military said this week it will build a 25-bed, $22 million field hospital in Liberia to care for health workers infected with the virus.””
