Democrats seem to love death. Whether they’re yammering about abortion or “end of life” planning, they just can’t get enough of talking up the myriad ways people can exit life’s stage. They always claim this is simply a discussion about personal responsibility and individual choice but, since they despise those ideals in virtually every other matter, it’s a hard argument to buy.
Enter Ezekiel Emanuel.
Emanuel was one of the chief architects of ObamaCare and is, of course, the brother of Rahm. Over at The Atlantic, he’s penned an article about his own death and he’s made a shocking announcement about the perfect age at which he hopes to die. While he very specifically rules out euthanasia, Emanuel says he hopes his ticker shuts down at the not-particularly-old age of 75.
The reason? 75 is, apparently, the perfect age for a human to buy the farm. According to Emanuel, people who live longer than that risk struggling through a less-than-perfect existence.
Doubtless, death is a loss. It deprives us of experiences and milestones, of time spent with our spouse and children. In short, it deprives us of all the things we value.
But here is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss. It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but is nonetheless deprived. It robs us of our creativity and ability to contribute to work, society, the world. It transforms how people experience us, relate to us, and, most important, remember us. We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.

Democrats don’t really want death panels...they want death squads.
I looked up his age... it’s 57. He’ll find reasons to push it back in ten years or so. The elite always find reasons to change rules when they come under them.
His parents gave him the wrong name.
If Dr. Zeke checks out earlier than 75, so much the better.
For me it’s anywhere in the ~70 range, and I say that as a 60 year old. But I get my belief from the bible which time and time again puts the length of a man’s (or king’s) life at about 70 years.
That is, after the flood it does...
Not that I think anybody should be offed if they squeek by with an extra 1-60 years. ;-)
The older I get the older ‘old’ becomes. How old is this fool? Let him get back to us when he turns 74.
Really? How old was Moses at the time of his death?
I’ve got just under 25 years.
Tick Tock.
He’s 57.
I presume that in 18 years we can all expect him to do the right thing and go out and blow his brains out?
Nah. Thought not.
So do the islamist terrorists, and they declare it..............
Not that I think anybody should be offed if they squeek by with an extra 1-60 years. ;-)
I don’t know that I’d want to live an extra 160 years
but I could make that decision later...
And make sure not to waste all that protein, Soylent Green coming to a demoncratacatessen near you!
the rules never apply to the elite
“I looked up his age... its 57.”
I hope his doctor is dyslexic.
I believe you are exactly correct.
I’ll leave this earth when my Lord and Savior tells me my time is up .. and not one day before.
And .. the left may not want to live past 75, but they have no right to INFLICT that rule on the rest of us.
Also, who says that after 75 you can’t have a meaningful life .. my mom was ninety .. when she came to live with me and even though we only had 3 more years together; And, while there were some rough times, I cherish every moment we spent together. I switched her over from CNN to FOX; she changed her voter registration from Dem to Rep; and she was an avid voter until 91, when her dementia wouldn’t allow her to vote anymore.
She survived long enough to see another of her many great-grandchildren born.
Oh you Conservatives are such liars. There won’t be any death panels or death squads.
You folks are terrorists! /s

He and his fellow travelers keep pushing this crap, we will see what happens. May be piece by piece, the way they crept up on us?
