Football player Ray Rices video-captured February attack on his then-fiancée has once again brought domestic violence into the publics consciousness.
Or has it?
Critics would say that while it has placed a spotlight on violence against women, that isnt at all synonymous with domestic violence.
Because studies show that most domestic violence may actually be violence against men.
This has just been brought to light by Guardian columnist Glen Poole, who recently asked why British actress Kelly Brook has got away with punching two men? Complaining that there is little room for the female perpetrator or the male victim in mainstream modern discourse around violence and [sex], he goes on to point out:

PING.
yeh...right....
It’s wrong no matter who does it.
Guess they gotta be barred from coming to nfl games then.
Well, when you think about it that way, Ray Rice’s girlfriend came at him and was hit by a counterpunch. /S
I understand domestic violence rates there far exceed that in heterosexual households.
Lets see the feminists deal with that.
They know that they can get away with it just like female LEO’s are more likely to shoot someone than grapple with them.
I believe it.
yeh...right....

You say that like you didn’t know this is true. And has been for many years.
There are lots of violent women out there. You can cause great damage throwing pots and pans and flower vases.
She was not related or married to me, but the only time I ever really tried to physically harm a woman was in pure self defense. She was a shoplifter at a grocery store I worked at. I was busy and decided not to arrest her, after I saw her go to the make up counter, pack a bag full of stuff, and then come to my register for a “refund” without any receipt.
However, after I refused to be taken by her obvious scam, I took the items in question and proceeded to restock the shelves with them.
She came up behind me and sunk her long finger nails deeply into my neck with one hand while socking the back of my head, hard, with the other hand.
I swung around and decked her.
She had it coming.
She weighed at least as much as me, and my neck later become infected from her nasty fingernails. I bled all over myself.
Studies have long shown that at least 60% of domestic violence incidents are started by the woman.
Women are, of course, far more likely to wind up seriously injured. But that’s primarily a consequence of disparities in size, strength and skill at using violence, not moral superiority.
IOW, a lot of women start fights and then lose them.
I’ve sometimes wondered to what extent the media portrayal of smallish women engaging in hand to hand with much larger men and winning has contributed to this. Until they find out the hard way, I think many modern women don’t realize how extreme the disparity is between the sexes in their ability to commit violence effectively.
This is not news to me. I had a female neighbor who threw lamps and pans at her boyfriends. They never laid a hand on her. It would be quiet and then I would hear objects hitting the wall and her screaming at him. A few seconds later he would run out of the front door never to be seen again. Then she would find a new boyfriend. Men don’t call the cops, they just leave.
Also, late in life the women are often stronger than their husbands and the husband cannot defend himself or run away.

Actually this has been known for at least two decades.

Married three times. The women were always using force.
The article is correct. I’ve worked with males whose wives beat and abused them because they know they’ll get away with it. I know several LEOs who back that up and I know a number of psychologists and counselors who also confirm that at least 50% of the actual domestic violence comes from women. The coverage of the sports figures who are guilty of this is way too one-sided and focused for many reasons. This has only received national 24/7 coverage because it fits the meme of certain women’s groups as well as political figures and their war on women theme.
My understanding is about a 60:40 ratio
My great aunt was an MD in W.Va back in the ‘20s
and it was just as true then as now.
Men are, however, a LOT more dangerous.
The societal Covenant regarding violence against Women
can break spectacularly when the violence is initiated by the woman.
The gloves come off.
I heard he hit her first, then she hit back, and that’s when he knocked her out.
. . . or watching the Superbowl.
