ANKARA--U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday played down chances of an imminent broad coalition against Islamic State militants, illustrating the difficulty Washington faces winning commitment for a military campaign in the heart of the Middle East.
Kerry met Turkish leaders to try to secure support for U.S.-led action against Islamic State, but Ankara's reluctance to play a frontline role highlighted the challenges of building a willing coalition to wage what will likely be a tough offensive.
Kerry has been touring the Middle East to build support for President Barack Obama's plan, announced on Wednesday, to strike both sides of the Syrian-Iraqi frontier to defeat Islamic State Sunni fighters, who control swathes of both countries. . .

If we were going to put a North Vietnamese communist in that position, couldn’t we have found an attractive female?
This dumb bastard can’t get anything right.
Who would want to sign on with a horse-faced doofus whose loyalty was suspect? At least Vidkun Quisling was clear as to whose side he was on.
Expecting Turkey to come to the aid of any coalition to curb the spread of ISIS is urinating into the wind. Turkey is the conduit by which these “foreign” volunteers for the ISIS army is getting into Syria, and the pipeline by which the oil produced in the ISIS-controlled regions is getting out into the black market.
Hugely profitable deal for the Turks, who are predisposed to the establishment of a new Caliphate in their immediate vicinity, from which they may re-establish the Ottoman Empire.
If we keep moving Forward at this pace we’ll be in Cambodia by Christmas!
But Øbama said there was a broad coalition ... or did he mean Merkel and that Norwegian chick?
Good one
we have become a joke to the world now because of Obama and his pathetic , have no clue foreign policy.
Obama has been so much involved in changing the military with women on Submarines, combat, homosexuals and cross dressers that he has ignored vets, and the real problems we face.
Hope the ignorant voters , and the liberals are really happy now after they kept calling Bush a cowboy , but we have this in the white house now and the world laughing at us
Yeh right.....
Don’t worry about it John. Having you in as Secretary of State means never having to exceed expectations.
If the countries commit and then Obama pulls out the rug from under them like he did in Egypt, Libya and Iraq the leaders of these countries are in trouble.
Damn, at this rate, this mid east mess is going to turn into a global religious war. I foresee WW III on the horizon, all sides will be killing for their God! Who do you think will bare the brunt of it? Kerry is too wishy washy to be considered seriously, just another appointed DC clown. (Sorry, I’m just another grouchy old man who is totally disgusted with our inept current leadership in DC.)
And, I am a depressed old woman. Only telling you that so you will know that you are not alone.
What a terrible mess, and while I keep searching, can’t see any light at the end of this dark tunnel.
We must not give up hope. There are many of us. And we will prevail.
Gee - I wonder if the original “broad coalition of 9” is still intact...By this admin’s standards, Bush had the whole world on his side, along with Mars and Venus.
