This is real: Discovery Channel is stranding Republican and Democratic U.S. senators on a deserted island and filming what happens.
In an aisle-crossing new reality series titled Rival Survival, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) must put their political differences aside and work together for six days and six nights in an harsh isolated environment

Shake them out of a bag and you won’t be able to tell the ‘Rats from the Pubbies.
They need to strand about 90 of them there
Excellent, just 98 more to go! What? You say they’re going to go get them off the island? For God’s sake, why??
And never come back for them.
Bread and circuses.
Add more Senators.
When one gets voted off the island, he/she has to swim through a pool of Great White sharks. If he/she makes it to the beach on the opposite side, he/she gets to stay in Congress until the end of their term.
Wouldn't it be nice if the island were over-run with hordes of Central American "children"? <^..^>
Attention:
In a two party system, the parties AREN’T supposed to work together. It is supposed to be adversarial.
I suppose the Roman’s Bread and Circus included equally silly clown acts.
Yep, one way only
I can imagine Ted Cruz and Harry Reid on the island.
Harry refuses to work and tries to stop Ted from finding fresh water, hunting for food, and building a shelter, and Cruz does it anyway. Then Harry demands that Ted give him water, food and share his shelter. Ted tells him to “go suck an egg”.
So Harry throws rocks at him, as well as trying to foul the water, ruin the food, and tear down the shelter.
After enough of this, Ted sticks a long spear through Harry.
Sounds about right. Read an interesting piece today, said that air travel enables many Reps to fly home frequently, thus working a 3 day week and not recreating with fellow Congresspeople on the weekend, thus not developing cross party friendships and understandings, causing gridlock?
And forgets about them.
Reminds me of the movie with Jack Lemon and James Garner in “My Fellow Americans” - two ex-presidents who hate each other join forces ....
Despise not the day of small beginnings. Gotta start somewhere.
These are professional politicians with staffs of paid political advisers.
And yet, no one thought to tell either of these idiots that maybe staring in a reality TV show where they are stranded on an island is not a real good idea?
Are they doing it nekid like on Naked and Afraid?
Reminds me of the time Mary Landrieu got stranded on Grand Isle during a hurricane because she ignored the evacuation order.
Will they be naked too?
What will the Dem Heinrich do without taxpayers?
