Apparently Stompy the elephant just don’t care.
That’s too bad. Probably won’t be easy to find another vet to care for them.
Elephants are among the coolest critters on the planet but they can be deadly in a hot second.
Total BS. That elephant knew what it was doing, and it wasn't an accident. If the vet "fell" it probably was because he was knocked down.
Peter Peanut? Shelled by a rogue elephant?
RIP.
They ruled it an accident? What if the elephant just got away with premeditated murder?
How awful. Prayers for his loved ones.
True. Elephants are notoriously careful with their feet. I talked to an elephant handler so years ago and he told me that they aren’t afraid of mice but having small things moving around where they might step makes them nervous.
One of his “tricks” was to have the elephant step on an egg without breaking it. He said they gently feel for it and don’t put any real pressure on it.
About 30 years ago a guy on my street (casual acquaintance) got his head squished by an elephant at a wild animal park.
The elephant knocked him down and deliberately stomped on his head. It took all of about 2 seconds. I believe he had a closed casket funeral.
It was deliberate.
Oh, great! Now the inappropriate laughter by Mary Tyler Moore... You realize the stress we've been under, trying to to suppress the hysterical posts?
Tim Conway goes off script during filming of the Carol Burnett show with an elephant story.

Chuckles would have wanted you to laugh.
A little song,
A little dance...
O M G!!!
He killed every last one of them.
But it was Vicky who came in with the coup de grace...
My sids are hurting from LOL so hard!!!!
PS: Was that Dick Van Dyke on the end of the couch? The image was a bit grainy and he had his head down trying to hold his laughter in.
There was a Far Side cartoon which pretty nearly described this situation, though the pith-helmeted victim was more pancake-like than in real life.
I think it was Van Dyke on the end of the couch.
The single funniest comedy bit I’ve ever seen and it was just Tim Conway screwing with the rest of the cast.
Elephants do not step on things by accident. They are extremely careful with their footing.
Yes he was a guest that week - I showed this to my daughters a few years back (~40 from when I watched it as a kid) and we were all laughing so hard it hurt. I miss real comedy. Phsnoort...
