High hopes for tax money isn’t as expected as the state’s legal marijuana industry isn’t bringing in as much money as anticipated. In fact, tax revenue is way below expectations.
When voters approved recreational marijuana sales the state predicted it would pull in more than $33 million in new taxes in the first six months. The actual revenue came up more than $21 million short.
The problem is that buying pot is less expensive on the streets where people don’t have to pay taxes or fees.
Medical marijuana is also less expensive than recreational pot, so those with medical cards are sticking to buying that way.

Surprise, surprise. Everyone should have seen this coming. With the banks not accepting dope money because of federal banking laws, most pot revenues are held in cash by the sellers.
Hmmmm. warren boofet/berkshire halfaway comes to mind. Yup. His secretary pays more taxes percentage wise than he did because he just pays capital gains with no “paycheck”. She of course pays based on a salary. Weird how the extremely wealthy can find any and all tax law loopholes there are. Guess that’s why they’re rich. Flat tax for all!
The gun grabbers and New Deal big government champions do pretty well.
As soon as pot is legalized, pot smokers will have to face a voracious government trying to collect as much tax money as possible as opposed to dealing with and overwhelmed police officers and a justice system that could really care less.
It looks like the politicians are going to have to “tax the hell out of it” some more. LOL!

Too many people are happy with the police state and the war on drugs that steal their freedoms.
Asset forfeiture laws have turned some police officers into something more akin to bounty hunters, and they care very much.
