World's Smartest Maddow Doesn't Know Difference Between Balkans and Baltics

Another embarrassing mistake by Rachel Maddow. This time Rachel has revealed her unfamiliarity with some simple world geography. On her MSNBC show this evening, discussing President Obama's impending trip to one of the Baltic states--Estonia--Maddow told anecdotes of "the last time a US President visited the Balkans." Whoops!
Maddow waxed on about how the last time an American president visited the "Balkans," it was George W., visiting Albania. Rachel recounted the story of how W's wrist-watch disappeared when he waded into a crowd of Albanian well-wishers. With malicious glee, Maddow mentioned that in honor of his visit, the Albanians erected a tall statue of W with a "teeny, teeny, teeny, tiny little head." How tiny must a melon be not to contain the difference between the Balkans and the Baltics?

The best part of being a liberal is that you can make stupid comments and never be mocked by the media. They protect their own. A stupid comment by a Republican city clerk in Possum Tail, Mississippi, will make the national news, but gaffes by a Democratic president, vice-president, or U.S. senator will pass by without comment.

For those who don’t know, Buffalo is 3/4 inch left on the lake shore, Scranton is closer to New Jersey, Syracuse is in middle upper New York, and I don’t know where Binghamton is because I always get it confused with Burlington, which is in Vermont, across Lake Champlain from NY.
As to the success of public education, I was once supervising 4 high school summer hires, who were supposed to be among the cream of the crop. My job was to have them cut out and file newspaper articles by category. One type of category was countries. All 4 thought Nicaragua was in the middle east. I think they were juniors or seniors.

I beg your pardon, I live in the middle!

You would think that someone that ugly would at least be smart. This strikes me as unfair.

The pointer is actually west of Williamsport; it's in the middle of about as nowhere as you can get in the Northeast -- the Tiadaghton State Forest. Buffalo and Binghampton are ridiculously wrong.
It's especially egregious when you realize they could have used Google or Bing maps without even leaving their desks, but they were too lazy to bother.

I am the world's smartest man, not Rachel Maddow; and I can tell you that "Baltic" is simply a description of the things that I do...

I am the only Baltic entity on this thread. As a matter of fact, he may well be Gauis Bal

There's polar bears and penguins. The polar bears are big guys so they are always on the top. The penguins are little guys so they have to be on the bottom. That's helpful, thank you.

Balkans/Baltic/Balsa/Balsamic. Its all so very confusing. I have been up most of the night so either I am getting tired or this thread is getting very funny. I choose the latter.
