Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is a national embarrassment
Washington Examiner ^ | 08/21/2014 | T. BECKET ADAMS

As new details regarding the death of 18-year-old Ferguson, Mo., resident Michael Brown slowly come to light, some casting doubt on previous media narratives, Gov. Jay Nixon, D-Mo., has proven to be nothing short of a national embarrassment.

Indeed, from his tardy response to an event that occurred nearly two weeks ago to his fumbling remarks regarding Darren Wilson, the officer at the center of the tragedy, Nixon’s handling of the volatile and often violent situation in Ferguson has been inexcusable.

“From the outset, I have been clear about the need to have a vigorous prosecution of this case, and that includes minimizing any potential legal uncertainty,” he said Tuesday in a statement posted online.

This remark is problematic for two reasons.

First, the governor has not been clear “from the outset” on the situation in Ferguson. As I have noted, Nixon shamefully hid from the initial chaos following Brown’s death, responding only after the outcry from the media became too great to ignore.

“If people got things to say, they’ll say them, and if people from the news media want to cover stuff and take pictures of things, they ought to do it. We live in a free country,” Nixon eventually said at a gathering that took place a full five days after the shooting. “That voice needs to be heard, and we want to help make sure that it is heard. It doesn’t much matter to me how respectful it is, it’s just got to be safe.”

Second, Nixon's “vigorous prosecution” remarks have confused good-faith efforts made by investigators to get to the bottom of the shooting, leading to confusion over whether the Missouri governor had called for the prosecution of Wilson.

Indeed, Nixon’s remarks were so unclear that a spokesman for his office was forced to clarify

Nixon is simply reading Jarrett’s words.

Party before country before rule of law.

Does the Missouri state constitution have some provision for removal of an inept or incompetent officerholder from his position?

It would seem that there is a much stronger case against Jay Nixon than there was in the Travis county, Texas, district attorney’s charges against Rick Perry.

Considering that idiot Claire McCaskell also hails from Missouri, I'd say the competition is rather keen for which is the bigger national embarrassment.

Thank you, Todd Aiken.

I was telling my wife last night that if it turns out that Wilson was unfairly treated, the police in Ferguson and MO should go on strike.

Apparently Nixon takes the police for granted and is okay with trashing them. I bet that they don’t feel a lot of love for Nixon right now because “it could be any one of them who are being accused.”

How bout some vigorous effort to obtain all evidence before any prosecution there Dear Leader#2 or does a lynch mob run your justice system in MO? MO. is known as the show me state. All you have shown is cowtowing to thugs, criminals, and outsiders that are above the rule of the law! You sir are no leader, just as your counterpart in the White House and his whole line of mealy mouthed administration are! I truly hope you are impeached or recalled.

Prosecute? What’s to prosecute? Mike Brown is already dead. Maybe he means the rioters and looters in Feguson.

Yeah. Gor for it. And prosecute Capt. Ron Johnson, the MSM, Al Sharpton, The New Black Pampers, Eric Holder and all the other outside agitators responsible for rioting and looting.

I was telling my wife last night that if it turns out that Wilson was unfairly treated, the police in Ferguson and MO should go on strike.

The police nationwide should go on strike, if this goes to trial (barring some kind of evidence that we haven't seen). They simply cannot do their job, if they cannot put down a 300 pound man attacking them, threatening them, and then charging at them again, without risking malicious prosecution.

And not just police should go on strike, but all emergency responders, as well (since they are completely dependent on the police for their own safety).

This situation is that serious.

He’s a corrupt little bed-wetting wimp.

Don’t believe me... Just watch this.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/3733837131001/gov-jay-nixon-addresses-the-situation-in-ferguson-mo/#sp=show-clips

Everyone should watch his little charade news conference go belly up into chaos starting at about the 12:00 mark...

The longer into the video, the worse it gets.

This idiot would have difficulty organizing a birthday party...

Once governor Chucko gets off his scripted speech, he’s a helpless spoiled child...

If fact if ya got time, watch this whole production video from start to finish.

This man is anything but a leader.

And our government is FULL of these types of people.

What a sad situation. Under dim-bulb-crat pretenses of leadership and with the heip of its clueless inhabitants, Furguson will soon become Detroit (was well on its way, though).

The few remaining whites and the majority of middle class African-Americans will leave the doomed village to obamafone owners, who will then complain that there are no stores, no jobs, and no one left to loot.

Pity.
