Poland put on its biggest military parade in years Friday to mark its annual armed forces holiday, with the president saying the violence in Ukraine shows that conflict is still a "brutal reality" in Eastern Europe and Poland must be able to defend itself.
Fighter jets and military helicopters flew over Warsaw as tanks rolled through the capital. More than 1,000 Polish soldiers marched, joined by dozens of U.S. and Canadian troops who are in Poland for NATO exercises.
The parade came on the Aug. 15 holiday that honors a stunning Polish victory against Russian Bolsheviks in 1920.

It wasn't just at Monte Cassino that the Poles distinguished themselves they fought all the way through the Italian campaign as the right flank of the British Eighth Army.
The Polish 1st Armored Division played a key role in the destruction of the German 7th Army at the Battle of the Falaise Gap in Normandy.
Before the Islamic Army attacked Poland at Khotim in 1673, sultan Mehmed IV sent a chest of sand with a message to the king of Poland, Jan III Sobieski -"Surrender! It's pointless to resist. We are as numerous as the sand in the chest".
In return, king Sobieski sent a small box with grains of pepper adding the note, "We aren't as numerous as the sand. We are like the pepper in the box. Think twice before you try to bite us".
As a result of the battle, out of 35,000 Ottoman Janissaries, 30,000 were killed on the spot and only a few thousand managed to escape in panic and chaos from the battlefield. Poland lost less than 300 soldiers.

If Putin wants all his former Soviet countries back, he can do it. I hope he has better sense than that. That adventure will be extremely costly costly to Russian economy. But Putin is a megalomaniac like Saddam Hussein. Do not trust him.
Actually, it was a few hundred scouts of Radzymin who stopped the entire so called unstoppable Soviet Army just 10 miles from Warsaw on Aug.12-15, 1920. Their fanatic fierce resistance for three consecutive days made the Russians believed that they had the entire Polish Army ahead. After three days, Russians finally defeated the Polish defenders of which almost all lost their lives. But, this gave the Polish Army the necessary time to encircle the Soviets and... the rest is history.
IMHO, this is the most beautiful chapter in the history of Poland. A few hundreds of teenage boys and girls, actually children, saved the entire Polish people from the nightmare of communism.

Ukrainians weren't that lucky. Russians conquered Ukraine and murdered from 6-8 million of them with famine in years 1931-32. The rest I don't even want to talk about...
Ukraine is not a member of NATO and Poland is. If Russia attacks Poland, NATO will retaliate. Russia cannot defeat NATO. If Russia attacks any NATO member, then World War III will begin and Russia will lose.

much less a new member with small economy.
Why do you think Europe exempted Natural gas from sanctions on Russia over Ukraine situation? Yap, because without natural gas from Russia, Europe economy stumbles big time, not to mention Europeans freezing their behinds in coming winter.

NATO went to war in Afghanistan when the USA was attacked, including Polish troops.
If Poland is attacked, NATO will go to war to defend Poland.
