A children’s book published by the co-founders of Michigan Open Carry portraying a family day out while the parents sport holstered handguns has liberal tongues wagging all over the Internet.
“My Parents Open Carry” was written by Brian Jeffs and Nathan Nephew to provide an overview of Second Amendment rights and the practice of openly carrying firearms. The book is described this way on its website:
“Come join 13-year-old Brenna Strong along with her mom, Bea, and her dad, Richard, as they spend a typical Saturday running errands and having fun together. What’s not so typical is that Brenna’s parents lawfully open carry handguns for self-defense. The Strongs join a growing number of families that are standing up for their 2nd Amendment rights by open carrying and bringing gun ownership out of the closet and into the mainstream.”
The book has sparked controversy among liberals, drawing criticism in online outlets as well as social media.
Raw Story made its point of view obvious when posting this headline over an article on the book: “’My Parents Open Carry’ kid’s book portrays day in the life of ‘typical’ gun nut family.”
Elizabeth Law, children’s books editor and publisher made several postings mocking the book on Twitter, such as these tweets:
A DemocraticUnderground.com discussion board displayed comments posted by members, including these:
This would [be] comforting if we lived in a post-Apocalyptic zombie-filled world. But we don’t.
These open carry folks are either paranoid or mistakenly think that gun gives them some power over their lives.
I feel for any kid brought up in that environment/culture. The long-term consequences won’t improve our society.
After a spirited debate, the site blocked further comments due to the thread being “off topic” in the general discussion forum.
Americans Against the Tea Party headlined its article about the book, “‘My Parents Open Carry’ the Children’s Book for Kids with Insane Ammosexual Parents!,” calling it a “new piece of children’s insanity.”
Jeffs and Nephew wrote the book because they “looked for pro-gun children’s books and couldn’t find any,” with a goal of providing a “wholesome family book that reflects the views of the majority of the American people,” according to the book’s website.
Maybe that’s because publishers like Elizabeth Law would have nothing to do with such a topic.

I believe you are correct and have thought this way for decades.
Leftists, while mouthing off about tolerance and love, actually want everyone to be in lockstep with them and if not they want those "heretics" to be either thrown in jail for life or executed.
They hate guns because they know we will not only resist but win, and we will win. If they try to go all out to subjugate us they will reap a whirlwind they cannot yet comprehend.
