After spending millions more, in light of the current soldier RIFs, the Army ultimately decides to go back to bleached out NATO-pattern woodland camo from the 1980s-1990s?

I was reading the history of my Father’s WWII outfit and one thing caught my interest.
Their commander sent several hundred boots in for repair. I suspect that they would just throw them away now.

What the best camo is, will depend so much on where the troops garbed in it are deployed. Why does there have to be just one pattern? Uniforms surely can’t be so pricey that there can not be a choice of patterns for various missions, just like there is a choice of weaponry.

I was on a seabee base in Mississippi and there were about 6 different camouflage utilities. The Navy had a blue and green pair. The Marines had a green and brown pair. The air force had their own pattern and then there was the Army pattern.
When I was in the Corps in the 80's every branch wore the same one. The head gear differed though.

It probably is about as good as any for woodlands.
I just glanced at my “Realtree” overalls hanging on a chair and there is a lot of difference and I think for this area the Realtree is better.

Commercial camos are probably best, just because they have to make it in the market.
Right now most of the activity is in the Middle East where they don’t have a lot of woodlands. Is this one more attempt to come up with a compromise that will work in both desert and woodland?

New? Looks like the older, old pattern. Yep, looks strikingly similar to the original nomex version of the BDU I wore back in the late 90s. Third uniform change for the Army in less than a decade...but, hey, DoD uniform contractors gotta eat too.

But what is the gay angle? There must be something gay. The only things that happen have something to do with gayness.
