Our troops are never to take orders from a foreign commander. They survived for six years serving under NATO Ground Forces Central Commander General Hans Spiedel....
Formerly known as Major General Hans Spiedel, Chief of Staff to Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.
They will survive this.

Now the Germans will dust off their battle plans and plan for WW3!!
To: Pilsner
How are you defining “survived”?
To: machogirl
I’m just surprised it wasn’t a transgender from Eurofrisco.

NORAD makes sense, given the missiles aimed at the US would fly over Canada, among other things, right?

“He will be there as a liaison.”
Chief of Staff directs all of the primary Staff Officers, to include the G-3 (operations) and G-2 (Intel). He is the conduit of all information between the Staff and the Commander.
He will wield a tremendous amount of authority.

Captain Cynic, my retired USAF hubby, says this is a very bad thing. Period.

Well in reality its more of a liason job as all 28 members of NATO retain complete sovereignty and decion making for their country.
I’m a little touchy lately as BHO is looking for any reason to try to morph us into waiving our sovereignty to the UN.

yes, it is bizarre. I cant imagine a US Army officer running another Countrys command. SACEUR. He runs the NATO military and, unles it has changed recently, must be and American. General Eisenhower was the first.
To: machogirl
lol, That was Col. Klink, Cmdr Stalag 13. It’s from an old TV show, Hogan’s Hero’s. Apologies as you’d have to be over 45 to get it.
To: fightin kentuckian
I loved watching that show. So he was saying “Hogan”? Bob Crane, murdered in Scottsdale. I don’t think anyone was ever convicted?

Thank you. I admit I am ignorant about Military protocol. It’s nice to get input from those that were or are now in the Military. I really didn’t know whether this is significant or not.

I didn’t know either with the downsizing. Reading the speeches/messages about the “new Army” from the US Army Europe Commander has been “enlightening”. Are all the top Brass now PC Political hacks?
