Buyer's Remorse: If voters had it to do over, Romney in a landslide

Polls which ask voters for their thoughts on how the last election should have shaped up a year or two years after the fact are pretty much meaningless. The latest CNN/ORC survey which asks voters that question is no exception to that rule. Nevertheless, with just 100 days remaining before the midterm elections, this question is an instructive measurement of voter satisfaction with the president.

If voters had it to do all over again, 53 percent would support Mitt Romney over the 44 percent who would continue to back Barack Obama. The president’s remaining coalition is what you would expect it to be; voters aged 18 – 34, Northeasterners, Democrats, self-identified liberals and moderates, urban and minority voters.

Where the president suffers the most in this survey is among women. CNN/ORC found that women voters backed Romney over Obama by 52 to 45 percent. That is almost identical to the margins among male voters (54/43 percent) and dramatic reversal from 2012 when the nationwide exit polls showed women backed Obama by double digits (55/44 percent).

There is not much in the way of good news for Obama in this poll. A majority say Obama is not a “strong and decisive leader.” By 56 to 43 percent, voters say Obama does not agree with them on the issues they “care about.” Only 42 percent say Obama can manage the government effectively; 57 percent believe he cannot.

Starbucks is the last resort I would ever go for their bad coffee and a bunch of kids hanging about .

As for buyers remorse, sorry but I do not go with this. There are still enough out there who would vote for him again , and add the voter fraud the Dems like to do . Mainly in the swing states like mine.

Don’t believe it.

There are still millions who would vote for an Obama-like candidate in endless droves.

The effort to make those who vote for Progressives into brilliant cosmic geniuses has been successful; anyone who is not a Progressive nowadays is a knuckle-dragging,
gun-loving, ignorant, gun-loving moron and any Progressive, anywhere, is a superior genius.

IMHO

He blew it with the full advise and consent of his campaign handlers, who made their millions win or not. The same crew who advised McCain to loserville.

Native intelligence should advise Republicans that they need their base; but no!--they have to chase those elusive "moderates".

The left have voter fraud done to a T.
In my state they wait for the panhandle to report. Wait to see how many votes they need in the south east part of the state in those 3 Dem counties , and then they report.

That’s the problem with having choices of worse and worst. Funny thing is, nobody is going to dial up the way back machine for Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, Mondale, McGovern, et al....

Same with EVERY other POTUS since LBJ after a bit into their term. I even remember these for Reagan.

All this proves is that America pays attention to ... nothing and is VERY easily influenced. Kinda sad actually.

The GOP is not now, nor has it been for a long time, a party of any actual morality. They are politicians.

I can't argue with that, I know it is led by a bunch of political crackpots, but the GOP at least needs to steal a couple of "swing" states next time.

Buyer's Remorse: If voters had it to do over, Romney in a landslide

A lie.

Voters knew EXACTLY what they were voting for after four years of watching the criminal Administration.

Obama won for the reason Romney stated: Close to 50% have a vested interest in the handouts. These voters are unreachable by rhetoric or logic. A move of God would be required to change their ethics, so that they no longer desire to rob their neighbor.

I'm no Romney fan. And he apologized for saying it. But that was one of the few things he really got right during the election. I wish he had campaigned on that theme.

What ever, as they say in the boxing world Romney “took a dive”, i.e. he lost the election on purpose.

For starters, Romney blabbering vaguely on and on and on about illegals magically “self-deporting” sounded as dumb to everyone else as it did to me.

Many who might have voted for Romney stayed home.

Coulda
Woulda
Shoulda
Didn’t

When the chips were down, Romney couldn’t beat Obama.

But hey! Lets talk about how next time will be different, and nominate Romney again!

The question I love to ask people that self-identify themselves as less than genius: “Did you vote for Obama both times?”

So very true! If he had fought Obama the way he fought Newt Gingrich - and kept up the battle after he won the first debate with Obama - he’d be in the White House now.

I assume the economy would be in better shape than it is but who knows?

The time to figure this stuff out is BEFORE you hand over the White House to a bungling incompetent.

This is why liberals can’t be trusted with adult decisions. THEIR screwup is OUR remorse.

And another buck will get you another Obama.

The American voter hasn’t learned anything — we’ll see this November if I’m wrong.

too bad that hind sight is always 20-20. It is like talking to a teen ager and explaining how the behavior has consequences. One always gets the ‘yeah yeah sure. I want to make my own mistakes”. Unfortunately for all of us those mistakes have ramifications that effect more than just the doer
