Tom Selleck really appreciated his cordial, not too flamboyant, demeanor...

Lots of people in the entertainment industry seemed to agree on that about Garner...

They say his presence rubbed off on a lot of folks...In a good way...

He is one of the few...

Garner was found dead when an ambulance arrived at his Los Angeles home around 8pm on Saturday, TMZ reports.

Ok, I'm not a world famous journalist or anything. If I was I would probably have my lips permanently attached to Odumbo's buttocks... Was this ambulance just touring the neighborhood and decided to stop at Garner's house to see if he needed a lift or something, or did a loved one find Garner's body and then called for an ambulance? I am very confused...

Sorry to hear this. I’ve always loved his acting. Maverick is one of my all time favorite TV shows and The Rockford Files is the only TV detective series I ever really liked. RIP James!

Yep, I saw one time they did a little filler piece on him that he did his own car stunts...Interesting, unassuming person he was, in real life...

I guess, like another posted on here that he pace car’d the Indy 500 for a while...

I guess if you know how to drive like that, you are skilled beyond the normal repertoire of your present day actor...

“The Great Escape” comes to mind...

Actually, two purple hearts, both well deserved, unlike a certain former Senator of mine.

He only got his second one in 1983, because it was the result of “friendly” fire, he was hit by fire from a U.S. aircraft. That still qualifies, since wounds received as a result of friendly fire, while engaged with the enemy, are legitimate. (Having your buddy shoot your toe off so you can go home isn’t. The standard is stringent to prevent such incidents.)

Garner as the Scrounger in the Great Escape. His scenes with the German guard Werner were pure Bret Maverick. Terrific!

Thank you for that Polaroid link. I have an SX-70 that’s still in very good condition. The author gave some links to film sources so I may just get some and give it a 21st Century whirl! It would be great at a party or other social event to see the reactions of people who’re using their new-fangled digital cameras!

RIP, James Garner. You were a fantastic actor and as a young girl, I had such a crush on you. Your character in Barbarians at the Gate was my very favorite. Thank you for a lifetime of quality entertainment.
