and purple heart! RIP JG
Mike
Tom Selleck really appreciated his cordial, not too flamboyant, demeanor...
Lots of people in the entertainment industry seemed to agree on that about Garner...
They say his presence rubbed off on a lot of folks...In a good way...
He is one of the few...
i luv METV!!
Mike
Sorry to hear this. I’ve always loved his acting. Maverick is one of my all time favorite TV shows and The Rockford Files is the only TV detective series I ever really liked. RIP James!
Yep, I saw one time they did a little filler piece on him that he did his own car stunts...Interesting, unassuming person he was, in real life...
I guess, like another posted on here that he pace car’d the Indy 500 for a while...
I guess if you know how to drive like that, you are skilled beyond the normal repertoire of your present day actor...
“The Great Escape” comes to mind...
Actually, two purple hearts, both well deserved, unlike a certain former Senator of mine.
He only got his second one in 1983, because it was the result of “friendly” fire, he was hit by fire from a U.S. aircraft. That still qualifies, since wounds received as a result of friendly fire, while engaged with the enemy, are legitimate. (Having your buddy shoot your toe off so you can go home isn’t. The standard is stringent to prevent such incidents.)
Great also in “The Great Escape.”
Thank you Diana that was the one I was trying to remember, what a great show.
“Skin Game” also..i have watched multiple times..love it! the old Maverick series was great, the later Maverick movie with Jodi Foster and Mel Gibson was good also! watched that multiple times! he was also in a number of episodes of “Cheyenne” i love that to!
RIP JAMES...u will be missed! not many more around like him
Mike
awesome! did not know that
Mike
:)
Garner as the Scrounger in the Great Escape. His scenes with the German guard Werner were pure Bret Maverick. Terrific!
Thank you for that Polaroid link. I have an SX-70 that’s still in very good condition. The author gave some links to film sources so I may just get some and give it a 21st Century whirl! It would be great at a party or other social event to see the reactions of people who’re using their new-fangled digital cameras!
One of my alltime favorites. Whatta guy!
Bret, Bart, and beau?
