GERMANTOWN, TN -
(WMC) - A young war veteran was shot and killed by Germantown police officers Tuesday night just before 10 p.m. Justin Neil Davis' best friend, who asked to be called Val, told WMC Action News 5 that Davis went to Cameron Brown Park in Germantown off Farmington Boulevard, because it is where he had happy memories of his childhood.
Davis was reportedly sitting in his car with a rifle and thoughts of suicide when Germantown police shot and killed him. Wednesday night, family and friends say they still have questions.

Words fail me........
God rest the soul of a hero.
Guess they thought he wasn't quick enough.
Protect and Serve, baby!
The worst thing you can do for a person threatening suicide is to call the police.
Suicide-by-cop is a known phenomenon; perhaps the veteran made menacing threats. It’s all couched in very general language.
If shooting is what they so badly want, why don't they trade their uniforms for military UCP and go where this kid went?
Well, I guess the Germantown [Tennessee] Police feel good about themselves and can go home safe after murdering this young vet. After all, we wouldn’t want to take chances, eh boys? There will come a day when people will have had enough and they will start killing these feral cops back.
yeah, but 20 yards away seems like an invitation, not a deterrent.
Everybody is on edge today, it seems. So far, local polizei do get a lot of leeway; if they had wanted to call in negotiators they probably could have. But this might have been seen as threat-to-be-neutralized. A general cheapening of the concept of one’s fellow man’s life may be partly to blame here. Both in any threats the veteran made and the way the officers reacted.
Two things to know.
1. This is TV news gerbalism. This story is written to slant the facts.
2. Suicide by cop. IMHO, that’s the story here.
The trove of distrust being amassed is growing.
To know about what tropes are in your mind, that is. Opinion is not facts.
“Davis was reportedly sitting in his car with a rifle and thoughts of suicide when Germantown police shot and killed him.”
Headline: HEROIC POLICEMEN PREVENT SUICIDE!!!!
Congratulations.....
How do they know he was contemplating suicide? Or did the cops just make that up after they realized he was on his way to the range for practice?
“with a rifle and thoughts of suicide when Germantown police shot and killed him”
Guess that stopped him from killing himself!
In a somewhat related fashion we have ...
Many men (white men more) that are subject of child support orders, that when they lose jobs and end up in debtors prison. All against the intent of the founding fathers.
We have vets that have courts directing child support when the men are overseas.
The media never will be revealing ‘the whole truth’ as it goes in the face of feminism, which single handedly built this child support crap we have today.
Suicide is sometimes viewed as the only way out. Do I hear crickets?
Disgusting and tragic.
Don’t know what happened but if he pointed his rifle at them I’m sure they unloaded on him.
And I mean unloaded, as in, they all sent 10+ rounds towards him.
That’s what cops do nowadays.
Most are not marksmen or even gun people.
They spray bullets in the threat’s general direction until someone says to stop.
Cop Get all tingly inside when they have a situation that can manipulate into a suicide by cop moment. That is when they can always get away with being Francis.
Look at it from the police POV: They didn’t have a lot of time to reason or negotiate, what with time running out on the doughnut clearance sale two blocks away.
