In his message to the Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development, Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide.
Francis proclaimed, Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.
Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for the tens of thousands of children who migrate alone, unaccompanied, to escape poverty and violence. He further sympathized, saying that this is a category of migrants who cross the border with the United States under extreme conditions and in pursuit of a hope that in most cases turns out to be vain." The Pope added that the amount of those willing to take the dangerous journey are increasing day by day."
The Argentinean pontiff claims that the illegal immigrants are forced to emigrate, suffer, and often, die tragically; many of their rights are violated, they are obliged to separate from their families and, unfortunately, continue to be the subject of racist and xenophobic attitudes.
Finally, the Pope called for everyone to have a new outlook toward migrants and refugees and that we should discard previous conceptions of defensiveness and fear, indifference and marginalization. Moreover, the world should transform itself from a throwaway culture to a culture "capable of building a better, more just and fraternal world."

And we call upon Rome to welcome them.
Ummmm.......No.
I’ve got an idea Pope. Open up the Vatican to all immigrants. Come one, come all. Set an example.
Don’t fix the places that are broken, break the places that aren’t.
Migrants and refugees.....they’re law-breaking illegal aliens looking for a free pass to the gravy train that is America.
Does he actually think before he utters such words?
Charity starts at home. He should welcome all refugees and migrants to the Vatican. In fact, send them airfare.
WOW.
St. Peter’s Basilica can handle about 3,000 or so. Send them to Rome.
Otherwise... Pope... STFU.
It’d be nice if popes didn’t pimp for attention like politicians and would attend to matters like cleaning their own houses first. Just a thought.
Did the Vatican agree to take 20,000 of the
most ill -— and to remove its guards and gates?
“Does he actually think before he utters such words”
He doesn’t give a crap as long as the RCC wealth stays intact. I’d suggest he sell all the treasures and support the immigrants himself.
They can have the gangbangers, rapists, murderers and drug cartel members. All God's children an all that.
Exactly. When I was a kid in Catholic school, we were "urged" to hand money over to the "pagan babies" fund. Here's a great opportunity to put it to good use.
I am Catholic...and would like to know what The Pope’s response will be when ISIS immigrates into the Vatican City?
Wonder what he will say then....
If something is valuable, you protect it. I’m quite certain that the Vatican’s vaults are not left unlocked for anyone who wishes to enter.
I, for one, believe that American citizenship and sovereignty are worth protecting.
Why is the Vatican protected with fences and guards with automatic weapons?
Then maybe the Vatican should open its extensive coffers to help PAY for those illegals...

Does anyone else notice this Pope never utters a word of support toward protecting the Christian and Jewish minorities from brutal oppression in muslim countries?
I’m living in strange times. We know this is being done on purpose by Obama/Holder/Dems and yes even the GOP to change the face of America AND for payback for all the perceived sins of our past. The solution is to deport, secure the border, and FOLLOW EXISTING LAW.
I concur.
