Mike Boyer, 30, was canned Tuesday after waiting 20 hours to buy pot and immediately going home to smoke. He was called up for urine analysis after he was spotted on TV buying the pot. Boyer told The News he 'regrets nothing.'
His high was quickly brought low.
A Spokane, Wash. man was fired from his job as a security guard the same day he became the first person to legally buy weed in the city Tuesday.
I dont regret it, Mike Boyer told the Daily News Wednesday. Im sad it happened but I got the title: Im No. 1. I regret nothing.
Boyer took Tuesday off from his job and set up camp outside Spokane Green Leaf around 7 p.m. Monday. Almost 20 hours later, around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Boyer was first in the door when the pot dispensary opened its doors to sell legal marijuana.
We dont line up for Black Friday, we line up for Green Tuesday, the 30-year-old told The News. People camp out for Star Wars and donuts ... this is more important than that.
Dressed in sunglasses and a garish tie-dye T-shirt, Boyer yelled, Go Washington! as he made his historic purchase.
He walked out with four grams of Sour Kush and high-fived people waiting in line as he held his bag of weed aloft, yelling first customer! as he walked to his car and immediately went home to get high.
Boyers phone buzzed as he took his first few hits: His employer wanted him to come in and take a urine analysis test within 24 hours. A client had seen the security guard on a newscast and was concerned about the drug use, Boyer said.
The test came back positive for THC, according to Boyer.
After being fired, the Spokane native posted his resume to Craigslist in the hopes of landing a new gig hopefully in the marijuana industry, he said.
Im staying positive, Boyer said.
Pure Idiocracy. I bet even the Marijuana industry will have drug tests to keep their
employees from smoking up their profits.
people who would be tempted to dip into inventory...that’s exactly what wholesalers and retailers look for in a potential employee...
I’m wondering if he was actually fired because of the pot, or if he lied to his employer about why he needed the day off. Having the urine test was probably just a measure that would hold up better if the former employee tried to take legal action against his former employer.
“I read about the murder case of Vegas casino mogul Ted Binion. At one point he was ordered to report for a hair follicle test. He had his girlfriend (who later killed him) shave every hair off his body, then went.”
The company I worked for sent a guy for a test and he shaved everything too. He still failed...they plucked a hair from deep inside his nose.
That made him a bald moron and unemployed.
Or drunk on booze, better make that illegal again too.
He was fired because the security client complained.
Is going on the doll something hugh and series? Will it stune a beeber?
Don’t forget to shave in the nose... there are nose hair shavers.
“He had his girlfriend (who later killed him)....”
She waxed him?

U.S. military slang for having killed a target in action.
So if they miss, they waned him instead?
Well it’s not like he lost a good job. Primary job requirement for most security jobs is having a pulse, turn over rate is pretty high, he’ll get another one.
The 30-year-old, who says he’s worked as a security guard “on and off for 12 years,” had signed an agreement several years ago agreeing to the drug ban.
According to KREM, Kodiac Security said on Wednesday that Boyer had not been fired and was still employed; Boyer told the affiliate another employer, Labor Ready, had requested the drug test.
Boyer did not immediately return a request seeking clarification.

Chances are he lives with his parents anyway.
A Darwin Award nominee.
And now you're in #2.
You assume that someone who smokes in his off hours will show up to work stoned. Just because someone has a few drinks after work doesn’t mean they go to their job drunk.

Do you know the after effects of smoking pot? It stays in your system for days and weeks. You may not be high, but you are impaired.
Responsible employers have the right and the duty to fire all dopers.
It does stay in your system for weeks, but in amounts too tiny to impair you. It's as if you had .0001% alcohol in your system weeks after you had a couple drinks.
That big ol' #1 title will be real handy when the rent comes due! < /sarc >
Made me laugh!
