During his Monday commentary segment on Fox News Channels Special Report, network senior political analyst Brit Hume argued the blame for the so-called humanitarian crisis at the southern border isnt President Barack Obama and his administrations fault.
Instead he argued it was the laws fault.
Hume pointed to the wording of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, pointing out that it has specific requirements for unaccompanied minors coming into the United States illegally and that he said is where much confusion lies.
In the uproar of tens of thousands of illegal children pouring across the border, people don't know what the law is and others pretend they dont.
Republican Congressman Raul Labrador of Idaho said on Sunday TV that the Obama administration should deport these children immediately. Later in the interview, he conceded the law does not permit that. The law in question is called the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.
It was passed by Congress unanimously and signed by President Bush. It requires that immigrant minors apprehended at the border may only be deported immediately if they are from Mexico or Canada.
The rest must be turned over within three days to the Department of Health and Human Services to await deportation hearings, he continued.
In the meantime the law says quote, They shall be placed in the least restrictive setting that is in the best interest of the child.
With an estimated 50,000 such children having come here from Central America this year, you can imagine how much trouble HHS is having housing them not to mention how long it will take the courts to process their cases.

Hume has been bought and paid for, ‘fraid to say.
Total lie.
Idiot.
Brit is hot for amnesty.
He verbally b slapped Laura Ingraham recently. she stated something in defense long after his hissiness was off the air for the sake of dignity of Fox.
He was catty.
Declare war on Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, and arrest them as enemy aliens.
The border crisis that he created.
The president of the United States — whoever that may be at any given time — cannot illegally encourage and aid a foreign invasion and then expect to be shielded by the letter, but not intent, of the law.
My GAWD. WTH happened to Brit Hume? He used to be someone respectable.
So this administration, which has stepped on the Constitution and broken just about every other law, has now decided to “follow the law” when it comes to all these illegals.
It’s good to be king. You can pick and choose which laws to uphold and which to disregard.
Yes, I heard him admit that he wants “immigration reform.”
I’ve never seen Brit Hume so passionate about anything—ever.
He wa not objective in the least.
Like he is on a personal crusade.
He loves those ‘lil chilren.
Was Obama following the law with his 2012 backdoor amnesty for Dreamers? This is the action that precipitated the flood on the border.
Brit SELLOUT Hume!
Pro Amnesty people seem to lose they logical minds.
Liberal-licker Brit Hume is less conservative
than Hillary Clinton.
Hume believes that the little Cental Americans will grow up to be surgeons, rocket scientists, etc., just like the immigrants from Vietnam and Asia. Maybe Hume has a spicy Guatemalan muchacha in his house. He sounds like Jeb Bush.
He must employ several South Americans on his Virginia estate. That is how to explain this. I have no use for this man any longer.
Huh? No law on the books about being in the US illegally? So what about the guy who missed the deadline getting out on a visa by 30 minutes and was jailed. What about the Australian teen who was jailed for three weeks incommunicado - was not allowed to contact consulate or her parents. The 0bama regime decides what laws they will obey and which ones they ignore.
PS - the guy who overstayed his visa by a half hour was actually hung up at the border into Canada because of traffic.
PPSS - and meanwhile a US Marine is still held in a Mexican jail .....
