New research takes a look at decades of corruption convictions to find the crookedest states in the union. When we think of government corruption (as one tends to do), our biased minds often gravitate to thoughts of military juntas and third world governments. But, of course, corruption is everywhere, in one form or another. And its costing U.S. citizens big time.
A new study from researchers at the University of Hong Kong and Indiana University estimates that corruption on the state level is costing Americans in the 10 most corrupt states an average of $1,308 per year, or 5.2% of those states average expenditures per year.
1. Mississippi
2. Louisiana
3. Tennessee
4. Illinois
5. Pennsylvania
6. Alabama
7. Alaska
8. South Dakota
9. Kentucky
10. Florida

Yay! Nevada not on the list!
Of course, like in every ranking of the US states, we usually come in right in the middle of the pack no matter what. Good or bad.
More Liberal propaganda.
These are the states who prosecute corrupt persons.....the most corrupt states don’t prosecute
Yay! Nevada not on the list!
your next Gov could be an X con
The list must be completely bogus. It is a statistical impossibility that an accurate list of the 10 most corrupt states wouldn’t include New Jersey.
From the University of Hong Kong?
Sorry, butI think the list is a lot of malarky.
Pennsylvania (# 5) ping!
After the Magnolia Massacre you know who is number one
Yep.... I thought that was unique with what just happened.
1. Mississippi - Got to agree after what we just saw
2. Louisiana - Famous for undead voters, but it should barely make the top 10, let alone #2
3. Tennessee - No. Somewhat, but no.
4. Illinois - Belongs in the top 3. Chicago politics anyone?
5. Pennsylvania - Almost entirely attributable to Philadelphia
6. Alabama - No
7. Alaska - Yes. Double yes. Tripple yes. Palin told us all about the ‘corrupt bastards club’
8. South Dakota - No, for its faults, its not very corrupt.
9. Kentucky - Yes, but at #10.
10. Florida - Replace with California and slide up the list.
I’d have to add Maryland to the list, and New York. Major corruption centers. And WTF Minnesota not on the list.
Actually, forget all that, Minnesota gets #1 SPOT FOR CORRUPTION, Mississippi down to #2.
I’d say
1 - Minnesota
2 - Mississippi
3 - Illinois
4 - New York
5 - Alaska
6 - Maryland
7 - California
8 - Pennsylvania
9 - Louisiana
10- Kentucky
Sorry, butI think the list is a lot of malarky.
**********
It maybe but I”m curious why you think that?
Special mention: New Joooysey
...or New York
BS!
Alabama is not a corrupt State.
I should know I was born and raised here.
Which explains why Ubama is always pushing for more spending on "infrastructure."
The spending occurs, but nothing ever seems to actually get built.
What the hell does University of Hong Kong have to do with ranking anything in this country? And as far as the University of Indiana...another leftist hell hole.
Who gets to define “corruption?”
Is it corruption if nobody cares that it’s happening?
